I have somehow managed to escape all the Tupperware parties, Make -Up Parties, have attended a few Jewelry Parties and many Lingerie Parties (although they are fun).. however, I have just received my first invitation to a Tomboy Tool party. Now those of you who know me, know, I am about as handy Lucy Ricardo and my husband, who has quite a collection of tools, is just that... a collector because any time we need ANYTHING fixed, he calls a repair man because Dagwood doesn't like to get his hands dirty. I will probably go to the party and will probably buy something as part of the proceeds go to breast cancer awareness (plus the stuff is a pretty pink) but I need need a set of tools as much as a fat girl needs a thong bikini.

I try to avoid those parties...always feel like something HAS to be bought..even if it's BLEEP stuff. I went to a makeup party, one of those all natural makeup parties. listened to a woman who was maybe 24 talk about how her product reduces wrinkles and used herself as an example. Wanted to tell her to shut the heck up, she knows nothing about wrinkles. lol

p.s. go to photobucket and look up fat girl...3rd pic. WOW not sure if she has on a thong but if she does...it's lost forever :)

Yeah I know what you mean about the make up parties, however, I don't go to them but there are a few girls here at my office who are trying to sell that natural make up, whose face looks like 12 miles of bad Texas road. I am a Merle Norman girl myself and I am not too concerned with wrinkles and such, it's all part of life. Some of us however, have led a little harder lives than others and there isn't enough make up, sand blasting or cosmetic surgery to cover it up! :)

Ya'll get some rain TM? We got tons of it in Mesquite, so much for trying to straighten my hair this morning... I walked out the door and it went Curly Sue on me.

I would LOVE to go to one of those parties.

I can never find a hammer when I need one or find it where I put it. Nails, screwdrivers, pliers, etc... I always need my own.

I keep my own tools in the car and my own jumper cables and jack (even though I always have to hunt them down)

I would love a pink set!!!! lol

It's storming here

lol luv. love that pic?

right now i don't have too many wrinkles..thanks to vanity when i was young. i'd wear makeup to the lake or even to lay out. it protected my face alot..thank goodness cuz i'd have hated to see what i'd look like had i put crisco on my face like i did my body when laying out in the sun

I hear ya TM, I am not a sun worshiper either, back in the day, when I would lay out, I took extra precaution because all I have to do is think sun and I turn beet red. I had a cousin who is 2 years younger than me, that did the whole baby oil thing, any time the sun was up, she was out in it. She looks much older than her years and no one would ever guess that she is younger than me.

Luv here is the website for Tomboy Tools:
tomboytools.com

I like the hammer, which has a magnet on the end, that is probably what I am going to buy at the party... however, the site has a mini tool bag that you can keep in your car that is cute.

at my house i'm allowed 2 screwdrivers...1 regular and 1 phillips...1 hammer and small nails. That's it, my husband doesn't trust me since i wanted to use his air hammer to hang pictures lol

It is storming here as well. Ugly!!

No,TM. I don't love the pic. It is horrid!! lol

I have been thin all of my life until I had my 9 1/2 pound son. I gained a few more pounds than I would have liked, but, too look like that??!!!!

Oh, hell no!!!

I am not a lover of the sun, since I do burn easily. Funny, since I am native american and already have a "natural tan". I have to use spf50 to protect myself. Otherwise, I will peel like a snake!!

Thanks for the info 2tickets. I would love to see my husband carry around a set of pink tools!! lol

He probably would not care. lol

2Tickets.....mabye you could buy a couple and hang onto them until Christmas....give one to a co-worker or a friend.....it could be a cool gift....

Being a guy....I don't have to worry about these "parties" too much...although my wife has had a couple of "girls night in" parties at our house....

I was reduced to being a butler, maid and bartender for all the ladies in attendance....as well as being the butt of all the "man" jokes all night long....

I hid out in the garage as much as possible....with the dogs....

Awww Ted, what a great husband you are, enduring all those duties AND being made the butt of the jokes. I notice you weren't asked to be the stripper :)

That sounds like a cool party.I would love my own set of tools. At least if they were pink they would'nt get carried off by the hubby and I'd be able to spot them pretty quick.Don't think I'd want a pink tool box though lol.

are you aware that if you use your pretty pink tools they are going to get dirty. If you feel the need to donate to breast cancer awareness, just write them a check. Why is it that to raise money, you have to buy something first??

But if you need the product anyway then it's good part of it goes towards a donation.

cowboyswife...you and your own set of tools made me think of the thingy's hanging from the tail end of a pickup. lol

luv, need me to hang some pictures for you? i have just the tool for the job :)

Actually CaptMax, I could use that hammer with the magnetic end, you never know when you may need to use it on a wayward old Fire Capt.

2T2P..My oldest daughter has her Master's degree in technical theatre..and along the way to getting her degree she took a semester and worked with the Stagehands Union in Shreveport..she was the only female in this group and they all "marked" their tools with paint...yup hers are all "marked" pink..no one ever stole any of her tools...even the big work box they had to build is pink....she has a huge collection of tools and knows how to use all of them too...her own dad can't begin to compete with her skills and knowledge....

Dawn, pink marker works wonders. My husband uses pink paint to mark all his tools cuz they kept getting stolen or he'd loan them to a work that wouldn't bring them back. well...now nobody wants to borrow his tools and nobody steals them :)

Behold the power of pink!

Hello! Isn't the Metroplex great? I was born and raised in Dallas and parents moved me to "the country" (Mesquite) in the 70's. Mesquite was far enough from Dallas to be the country but close enough to be convenient. I have seen this small town turn into a big city that continues to have small town charm. To experience a taste of this charm come on out in the Spring and enjoy the street festival and Rodeo Parade celebrating the opening of the Rodeo season, grab some tickets to the Rodeo and see first hand what the fuss is all about, stop in at Mesquite BBQ on any Friday or Saturday night or just cool your heels on the town square and enjoy the sounds of the Mesquite Opry and the occasional lazy train rolling through town. The spirit of the Mesquite High School Football games will take you back to a special place in your life, the sound of the bands, the trips to the snack bar, the sense of community coming together- nothing else like it! People still know their neighbors in Mesquite, watch out for one another in Mesquite, and proudly support our troops, police & fire departments, who not only serve and protect our community, but are also our friends and neighbors. Mesquite is the place for me!
