Have any of you been plagued and I do mean plagued with non stop, all day warranty calls?
In a day of wireless communications, most of our friends and family reach us via the internet or our cells, we hardly even use our home telephone, yet when I get home there are 12 - 15 messages on the answering machine from the same place, trying to sell extended warranties.   Every stinking one of them are recordings.  Even on weekends, the phone rings all day, when you answer it is a recorded message from these places.   Anyone have any idea how I can stop these folks from calling?   I know I don't have to answer the phone when I see their numbers rolling across my Caller ID but I still have to hear their message on my answering machine.    I would appreciate your ideas (outside of having our home phone number changed) on how to stop this.

Thanks

1. I would tell them to put you on their do not call list
2. Report the behavior to the company you bought the product from
3. Report the behavior to their supervisor.
4. Tell them you want their home phone # and will call them later to discuss.
5. Answer the phone scream and blow a police whistle (just a suggestion)
6. Use every dirt word you ever heard and make up new ones.(just a suggestion)

:))

Go to the National Do Not Call List on the web. You can register your telephone number and a complaint.

And when they persist, you can file a complaint every FREAKN DAY AND STILL IT GOES ON FOR MONTHS.

(voice of experience and the reason I listed 4., 5. and 6 hehehe)

Good ideas... Thanks. Char I got a police whistle... a prize if you will, from dating a cop many moons ago. It sure has come in handy when I get someone on the phone that I don't want to talk to.

I got one of those "courtesy" calls today. I get several a week, in fact. The weird thing is that I got one on my cell recently at the same time a coworker got one on hers. They must have a computer making waves and waves of calls.

2tix, I disconnected my home phone about a year ago. Like you I rarely used it. Yet messages would abound!

If you're using DSL you do NOT have to have a home phone so be advised.

Our cell phones are our home phones.

Well we don't get these annoying calls but lately we've been getting bill collector calls for a Jose Hernandez and no matter what I tell them they keep calling.

Advise the person to cease and desist, Dallas. Then report the number to the National Do Not Call List. I had the same problem previously and they were fined $30,000.

Exactly right - go to the National Do Not Call website. Automated calling (computer dialed) has already been outlawed.

By the way, newer cell phone models are coming with a block option. I checked and T-Mobile has a few models now.

I got a call last night from Dealer Services. I bet this is the same you guys have gotten, but I didn't answer. I do have my number on the DNC list and have since it started.

I saw a story on the news yesterday there is going to be way to opt out of the calls when there is a computer voice on the other end and you can't tell them to take you off their list. That will be good.

Yes, FNL is already filming season 3. They are looking for extras as I type if you're interested. The pay blows but it can be fun if you have the time.

Prison Break left for L.A. because the writers ran out of ideas. I don't believe moving to L.A. had anything to do with "ideas".

The first ones I got at home, I listened to it all the way thru until they gave a number to talk to a real person about the "warranty". I called it and told them I was'nt interested and to not call my number again, take it off your list now!
Some have started calling my cell now....how in the world is that even allowed in the first place?

You can also place your cell on the National Do Not Call List.

Another thing you can do if you get a number to call back. Mess with their heads, keep them on the line as long as you can asking questions about the warranty. Drive THEM crazy for a cahnge.

Ironman, I just thought of another way to mess with them. Listen to the spill, tell them you want the coverage, let everything get to the point of where you would be giving billing info, ask them to hold for a minute and then get back on the line and tell them you husband, wife, son, daughter or whomever just came in and told you the car had been totaled when they parked it on the train tracks.

Hello! Isn't the Metroplex great? I was born and raised in Dallas and parents moved me to "the country" (Mesquite) in the 70's. Mesquite was far enough from Dallas to be the country but close enough to be convenient. I have seen this small town turn into a big city that continues to have small town charm. To experience a taste of this charm come on out in the Spring and enjoy the street festival and Rodeo Parade celebrating the opening of the Rodeo season, grab some tickets to the Rodeo and see first hand what the fuss is all about, stop in at Mesquite BBQ on any Friday or Saturday night or just cool your heels on the town square and enjoy the sounds of the Mesquite Opry and the occasional lazy train rolling through town. The spirit of the Mesquite High School Football games will take you back to a special place in your life, the sound of the bands, the trips to the snack bar, the sense of community coming together- nothing else like it! People still know their neighbors in Mesquite, watch out for one another in Mesquite, and proudly support our troops, police & fire departments, who not only serve and protect our community, but are also our friends and neighbors. Mesquite is the place for me!
