We accidentally released this post at the same time as another, so very few noticed it. We are re-releasing it in the hope that more will be able to make nominations before they close. We have transferred existing comments so that you may see who has been nominated so far. Feel free to 2nd a nomination to give it more votes.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

welcome

to the first annual DFW Worst Commercials of The Year Awards!

Right now you are thinking of that one special commercial that brings you ever so close to throwing the proverbial brick at your television. For our first awards, we are not going to consider any particular cartagories, but please feel free to nominate your "favorite" by way of catagory. (Worst jingle, worst copy, worst voices, worst art, worst camera work, worst characters or simply "THE WORST".)

You may submit your nominations "You-Tube" style, but simple comment nominations are are encouraged.

To get the nominations started, our broadcast experts have chosen one of their favorites:

She repeats over and over "49 down and pay the payments on the window" her voice just cuts right through you.

And then there is the guy that advertises for "Oxy Clean" and all those other deals for $14.99 or $19.99. His voice is so annoying.

Mar 22, 2008 | 2:38 PM The little girl that says "it's the mirrors" (something about high def tv). A commercial I find comical though is the Jack in the Box commercial where they are sitting in a hot tub. "Are you thinking what I am thinking?" "I hope so......"

Mar 22, 2008 | 4:45 PM Cowboyswife: I don't know how, but I had forgotten about "Head-On"! That's a good nomination. They all are. Actually, by professional standards, the more annoying the better, in many cases. Like the "Head-On: spots, people don't forget them, and in the biz, retention is everything. On the other hand, I will never buy Time-Warner cable, just because of the "Life with Satellite" spots.

If Bill Dickison had ANY idea how much his ego (he loves his own squeaky voice and baby-faced smile) is ruining his business, he'd smarten up.

Because of his constant barrage of simply awful ads, I would NEVER even consider stopping at his car lot.

Yes, I remember them.....BUT, for all the wrong reasons.

Oh there are so many...I even wrote to Jack in the Box about the hot tub commercial ..why do you need sexual inuendo to sell a hambuger??? I HATE the "male enhancement commercials" (all of them),..the gemital herpes commercials and the girls in "wherever" who can't go to school for one week a month....and I also wrote to KIA about their commercials with the sexual inuendo( the man and woman at a bistro table discussing adding a new element to their relationship)...Wow..sounds like I am a broken record but some things do not need to be advertised so openly....WHO OKAYS THIS STUFF??????

I'm with scottbee on the "Oxy Clean". He is in many commercial and I HATE his voice. It's almost as if he is yelling at you.

The it's my money and I want it now (J.G. Wentworth) is equally annoying.

I also second the life with cable by time warner.

Oooh, Ooooh, wait - there is another! I turn the channel to NBC 5 whenever I hear the Rodeo Ford commercial and this one - the TXU commercial with the "Welcome Back" song. I'd slap the taste out of the Pope's mouth to get that off the air! lol

I don't want to give this business even more advertising by writing its name here, but it involves a certain home mortgage lender. The owner of the company thinks he's hysterical. Can anyone say, "Got, em!" The worst one is where he does a really bad Elvis impersonation.

I'm about as involved as one can be in my community. I live suburban life through the families I minister to.I endured 27 years as a broadcaster, and in that time I learned to appreciate the power one can have in the newsroom. I have also seen that power abused. ...So I blog!
