I have read many articles on autism possibly being linked to vaccinations (particularly MMR). This is not new. I had heard of this many years ago. It never really effected me (why I don't know) until I moved to Texas and started to work in the daycare field. I was amazed that out of approximately 150 to 200 children that were attending this daycare, there were three children of different age levels that had autism. This to me was astounding. It was also very sad. There was one little child (age of three) in particular that I had the opportunity to work with. This child's day consisted of walking back and forth in the classroom, making groaning sounds. This child rarely (if ever) made eye contact with anyone. I never observed this child interacting with the other children. I could almost feel this child's state-of-being. I felt as if this child wanted to communicate, but for whatever reason, could not.
Then, I started attending a church and was involved in weekly home gatherings and discovered that there were two children in our group of about 25 people who also had autism. A parent of one of the children claimed that their child appeared normal and was developing normally until at the age of two had gone in for an MMR vaccination. Approximately a month after that, the child's motor skills began to decline significantly. This child who could talk before this, was now unable to. This child was able to self feed before the vaccinations and now could no longer do this. There were many other symptoms that were surfacing as well.
I know that there has been a lot of discussion on both sides of the issue of whether parents have the right to exempt their children from getting vaccinations vs. it being mandatory. I can see the "potentential" protection of getting these vaccinations, however, at what risk?
Autism appears to be on the rise. I don't know if these are cases that are just now being diagnosed as autism, or what. I know that the vaccinations prior to about 1996 or so, had a substance known as mercury that was believed to be the culprit. But was it just the mercury that was possibly causing this.
I just wonder how many cases are out there that are not being addressed as possible links to these vaccinations. I sure hope more studies are being conducted.
Why is it that companies are very prompt and eager to sell you their product, but when it comes to helping you when you have a problem they can't seem to help you?
I don't kow if AT&T is notorioius for this or not. My mother has had telephone and internet service with them for a year now. She just recently moved to another apartment in the same apartment complex. They told her that she would have to pay a reconnection fee and so forth. To make a long story short, she now owes double what she would normally pay. She has never missed a payment or made a late payment.
She called them because she wasn't sure what some of the charges were on her bill. They also had different people for the different the different services. They kept transferring her from one person to another and she never got an answer. They didn't know either. Furthermore, they didn't care. As long as they get paid that's all that matters. Screw the consumer. That should be AT&T's motto as well a many other companies.
Why is it that the people hired as "customer service" agents don't know anything. They are completely unhelpful. Why should the consmer have to pay for their incompetence. There needs to be a consumer protection act put in place. And if there is already one (which I doubt there is) it needs to be revised. I am getting sick and tired of being taken advantage of by these type of companies. And they don't care if you threaten to disconue their services, they have thousands of other poor souls that they can bilk for all their worth. There needs to be a serious backlash against these companies. But that will probably never happen. And that is what AT&T all these other service provider companies are banking on.
