AlwaysWatching's Daily Thoughts

After a week of looking for a computer, my hubby, bless his heart, went to a store and bought one. Once he got home, he proudly bragged at the great deal he got. He also got this 50.00 rebate..boy was he excited..But wait...He bought it on the 29th of June, and as he looked at the reciept, it was printed that the rebate expired on June 30th...What  is wrong with this picture...?  Was it just another misprint or just another lying salesman?

He just left here, to go face the manager about the "great deal" he got...He told me if they dont lower the price by the 50.00, he is going to make them take it back. I cant wait to see how that turns out.

In the meantime, I am left here to ponder the outcome. Why can't stores just sell the stuff, for the price it is worth. Why do they try to trick people into thinking they got a great deal, especially when they know they will loose business, for lying and cheating us.  Just put the dadgum price on there, back your product, and above all QUIT pushing extended warranties (you dont back the original warranty to start with), "sale" prices, and junk product...If it is worth 1000.00, sell it for a 1000.00. If the warranty is good for one year, back the warranty. Quit ripping us off. This is a rant and yes it is news worthy..We Americans are tired of getting our money ripped off instead of getting our money's worth. Bad enough we have to put up with all the other rip offs of life.

The store's name rhymes with BUY'S ( not Best Buy either). I hope it goes out of business. This isnt the first time I have heard stories about this Super Computer Store. By the time this purchase is over- Poor hubby will have spent a tank of gas, driving back and forth to this retailer, thus making the drive the deciding 50.00...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A year ago we bought a computer at Fry's. I waited...waited...called...called to ever get my refund. The refund thing is off Fry's back...someone else makes money on that. But, supposedly the "refund" deal sells a lot of stuff. And warranties?...They are a bunch of crap pretty much, whether it is a computer or a lawnmower. ...for you have to be in a position the item absolutely will not work...and came out of the box not working...!...like, a computer that you hook up...and will not work...you could take it back in a day or so, and get a new one...but if you wait much longer... you may well have problems. The other thing, if you send you rebate in, and the code off your box, well, forget about taking it back to the store! for the refund application invalidates your taking it back...so think about that. And extened warranty? That is rip off from git-go. ...just extra money in the pocket. I won't even buy extended warranties on autos, much less computers.

I know what store you're talking about! Hahahahaha! I bought my PC from the same store.

One day to get a MAIL-IN rebate? Yeah, right!

I'm with you, Just list the price...no gimmicks...no BS.

I hope everything turns out all right with hubby! He's probably telling them a thing or two, and rightfully so.

Well he just came in....without the computer..The Manager ask what the problem was...My hubby told him, you lied about the rebate and I dont deal with liars. He got a full refund and walked out after telling him he would never do business in his store again. Enough said..
Hey all of you out there, boycott Frys and lets run them out of town..We dont want Corporate companies comming here thinking they can make fools of us..The time to stop these people is now..Stop allowing Con Companies to take advantage. I would rather do without many things, than to line the pocket of corporate america with my hard earned money, then get ripped off. I dont have to spend my money on any of them. I choose How and I choose Who to give my money to..It wont be them. I already learned the "Extended Warranty"lesson..
Ask General Motors how hard it was to shake what I said about them. They didnt back their warranty on my car so I wrote the CEO and told him I would put him out of business if I could and I tried. I told 10 people, they told 10 people, etc. and guess what, that company almost went bankrupt last year...Dont tick me off..The pen is mightier than the sword. Always Watching!

I haven't had any problems with Fry's. We have gotten decent products. I have more of an issue with Circuit City. They do lie and they don't stock enough products when they run specials.

My response to you on my post:

All righty then, girlfriend. That's what I want to hear.

God bless you, Always Watching. He will ALWAYS WATCH over YOU.

That's so you won't have to bother with "click, click, clicking"

Hahahaha! Have a great day, AW! And, Happy 4TH!

I don't care much for Fry's either. I think the traffic is so horrible in that area, sometimes takes a long time to get in and out of there.

I feel for you, AW. Rebates are a joke for the most part. A few years back, when I got my eyes examined and was going to order new contact lenses through my practitioner, they talked me into buying this specific brand, I think it was Ciba or something like it, instead of the Accuvue that I really wanted. They were less expensive, and offered a $40 rebate, so I ordered the lesser brand and sent off the required items (receipt, UPC code, completed form, etc) and waited for several weeks. They said it would take 6 to 8 weeks, and after about four months of waiting and no rebate check, I called the company, which had apparently gone out of business and referred me to the company which had bought them out. After several calls to the company, one of their reps finally called me back and said my request for rebate had "gotten lost in the mail" during the transition, and did I keep duplicate copies of the required information. Which I told them I did not, because I didn't see the need to. I was informed that if I could not provide that information I would not be getting a rebate check. I was so hacked, I called my eye doctor's office and told the office manager about my predicament and asked for help. Well she made a few phone calls for me, and within a few weeks, I had a rebate check. In all, it took me about 6 months (and several phone calls) to get that rebate check. Was it worth it? Well I'd have to say no, because on top of

Oops, I think my message was cut off, here's the rest: No, it wasn't worth it (waiting on the rebate), because the contact lenses were of poor quality and I couldn't wear them. I guess the lesson learned here is to go ahead and buy the more reputable brand, even if it means paying a higher price and not getting a rebate.

Happy 4th of July to you to Onyx and everyone else. Thanks for the heads up on the click click clicking thing..it was getting a bit much! HAHAHA...
Well you all guessed it, my hubby is now on a new course for finding the right product. He knows not to look for rebates or extended warranties (and knows not to wait until after the 4th, when the stores will obviously go up, before school starts).
Dang, I just got tired of trying to shop and keep up with this sale and that sale..Salesmen trying to sell you crap you dont want or need. I hate to shop anymore..hubby does it for me..I get what I need and leave. I dont even look from store to store. I know what store has my size, color, etc. If they ever change I am screwed big time.. if I gain anymore weight, I am screwed too, I wont be able to shop there either-Heheehe As far as glasses, I can write a big book on that rip off..Scratch resistance my azzzzzzz...ALL of the EYE Stores are a rip off. Sounds like to me the highly educated Con-Companies are about to educate themselves out of business ..Guess they will have to figure out a new angle..like terrorist..they have to keep a step ahead to catch you off your guard. I am Always Watching...And dont trust any of them...

Squirrelfriend..I learned that lesson a long time ago..I am a paint contractor by trade. I do lots of finishes, textures, and repairs. So I am very familiar with rip off contractors..You get what you pay for. .
If you want a good job, give me time, and I will deliver a quality product at a quality price. If you help, it cost more, if you provide cheap paint, it will cost you more. But, I will tell you that straight up. I wont lie and tell you I will do it quick, for cheap. It has taken me 30 years to learn the art of painting a clean line..no education can teach you this, experience is the teacher. Good paint jobs take time and haste brings waste.
Dealing with people honestly, brings you a customer back, time after time, no matter what the cost. I try to treat people with the same respect as I expect to be treated with. It is called Integrity. Many Retailers dont know this concept and could sure use a class in it.

I think the worst ones are cell phones. They make you jump through hoops and turn in receipts and forms and THEN when the phone doesn't work-as did happen with my son's new phone-they prorate the amount you get in return. What a crock.

AlwaysWatching,Fry's has a BAD reputation! If you do a search on Yahoo you'll find hundreds of complaints about them. I'm sorry your hubby went through such an ordeal.

I hate Fry's because I can never find anyone to help.

I also hate the cell phone bundle deal. A friend was looking for a phone she saw in the paper and was told she only got that package if she got the add ons which she didn't want. The sales guy (with a thick accent) told her she could buy the phone then cancel the stuff she didn't want. I told her to buy phone, walk out the door, come back in and cancel. He told us that would not look very good. She told him she didn't care how it looked, but she wasn't going to buy his phone anyway.

I've had a retail nightmare story recently myself. I purchased one of those tower fans (37 in.). I hauled it home, unpacked it, assembled the base and inserted the tower. When I turned it on, it made a noise like the tin cans attached to the newly married cars used to sound. Of course, it was made in China. I unplugged it, affraid it would blow up or catch on fire, hauled it back to the store for my refund. The clerk says to me, "Since you paid by check, we can't give you a refund for a week and your check has gone through. GREAT------ I haul the fan back to my car. For a week I drive around with this d.... piece of junk in my trunk and taking up space. A week later, I take it back to the store. A clerk saw me come in the door and called the refund guy without asking me what I needed (hey - has everyone who bought one of these fans here had to return them?)
The only good thing about this is - I did get my refund. I've looked around for another similar fan - they're all made in China. FORGET IT!!!

I'm New to blogggging - new to registering - new to pressing a lot of keyboard keys ....but i have turned lots of keys. Which reminds me, if toilets flush to the left ...do keys initially require being turned to the right?
Already, I am impatient of pressing buttons therefore have forgotten my original reason to blog. But now, what now......why is this web pages' own in-house spell check red lines the spelling of blog, blogg, blogs , blogging, bloug, bloge, bolg, no matter how you spell it?
Isn't that (ironicism) and wasn't the spelling of "car" and "computer" correct after their introduction into society. Maybe, TruBlu or better yet, the "myfox" webmaster can give some insight to this.
But now second to my original reason again and directed toward Always Watching, you have pictures of several different cats and wet ones at that (the Discovery channel may need to think about replacing those crab guys) so assumption is that you have more than adequate knowledge of their character and behavior. Question: any advice from experiences, on grooming a long thick haired orange usually hot July cat with a "lions cut". Some character of this cat with two prior attempts to be cut was 5 minutes with hurricane Daisey at category 5. A lot of self-projecting swirling fur but not a single hair could be nipped. Otherwise, the most lovable, mellow, and mannerly considerate cat and why not.......being a male cat named Daisey........and neutered.

Maybe to return with that original BLOG posting if eye remember.

That blog spelling must have upset me.

I work in the rebate department, and yes the sales rep should have informed him of the deadline. And the reason he could not discount by 50 was more than likely due to it being a manufacturer rebate. And on some you also have the ability of doing it online. Also for a fact, alot of rebate departments have a 7 day grace period. Good luck!!

The last time I was in Fry's, about two years ago, I bought a software program that did not work. I called the software company's 800 number and they informed me that they had cancelled that software more than six months before and had issued a recall on all unsold units.

Reluctantly Fry's gave me a refund.

I have not been back since.

And that is half the story

Working wife, like to read, gain knowledge and listen to 4news weather and sports. I think the crew at 4 does a great job, to keep me informed, of the local information I need. Thanks for letting me blog it as I see it. I try to keep an open mind. This is the Llano Bald Eagles nest. It is as big as a bail of hay. Just like this large empty nest, I am enjoying my empty nest. I too circle my prey, but, waiting to feed my need for "intellegent input",not rodents..
