I have to admit I LOVE RAIN (in limited quanities).

My garden is in heaven.  My grass is greener than it has been in years.  It is so wet I havent mowed going on 8 days. It is tough on a lawnmower to mow wet grass. Everytime I get the chance it is raining.Thus....High grass and MUSHROOMS.

I have never grown or planted mushrooms...But they have sprouted up  like wildflowers. Little, brown, tiny,  delicate, mushrooms..By what seems like hundreds, though it is probably only a few.  I mentioned it to someone the other day laughing about it..Today they called and wanted to know how the " Mushroom Farm" was doing.?.

In four days, I now have them in my flower beds, greenhouse, and flower pots. It is tooooo funny..Anyone else out there have this problem? Oh this isnt including the Softball size Mushrooms in the front yard that you commonly see.  Is this some kind of strange phenonom? plague of mushrooms? Does this mean my soil is now sterile?Could this be the result of the consistant 1/2 inch of rain a day for the last few days? Yes in Southwest Euless, that has been my measurement for days. Funny, I get more than the airport and I am only 8 minutes west of there.

Back to the Mushrooms.No..they arent the eidible kind.

I can handle this weather all summer long..But , I dont think I want to be a Mushroom Farmer...HAHAHHAA Congratulations to the Forecasters they are 100% correct, with the acception of how much rain where I am..No report..Alas they cant report them all, so let me report at least 1/2 a day for the last several days...

What is your excuse when you drive in bad weather, have a wreck, and hurt or kill someone?
I understand Emergency Personel, I understand Doctors, nurses, and first responders, being on the road. I also understand the news and weather personel. Why does anyone else need to be on the road. Civilized, educated, concerned people are at home. Anyone else is, for all purposes in this blog, just plain stupid. But I keep hearing about people wrecking and getting hurt. What is their excuse? Oh I had to go to the store. or. I had to go over to my brothers house. or. I had to go to the church. or. I had to go to get gas for work tomorrow. or. all the other things that you can wait one more day to do. wake up, pay attention, we dont want your excuses for being on the road unnecessarily. We were told to prepare, and get off the roads. How clear does it have to be before people decide that their lives are worth more than the "Company Policy". If the Policy is wrong-stand up to it. Dont blindly abide by policies that can get people killed. Please stay home and dont endanger our First Responders lives by adding to their problems.
Go out? yes,out your front door and look around, then ask your self, will it be me, that kills someone else, just because I couldnt wait?

Thanks for the great coverage, so I do not have to "go see for myself" how bad it is.
Thank you for warning me ahead of time, so I was able to make preparations.
Thanks for reminding us to fill up our gas tanks, drive safe, get groceries, and all the other little things you think of. Things I may add, that could save a life.
Thanks for the additional radar on the pages so you can keep up to the minute ideas of where the storm is.
With that being said, keep up the good work.
We wont be crying tommorrow that we had a wreck or someone died, because we did as you suggested-stayed at home.

Thanks again Fox

Off to the Davis Mountains we drove. Beautiful day, reasonable traffic, high hopes of a great week. Day one ended in Monahans. Wonderful suite, great dinner, good night sleep. I didnt drive. My better half did the driving. I drank up mentally all the views and sights. My brain was full of rusted metal, delapitated junk, dried up water holes, hundreds of wind generators, I never felt the drain on the environment until I saw all the fields of left over oil field equiptment. Stuff that was left from the oil bust of the 80's. The deserted homes and dried up little towns. The mountains were beautiful colorful, lots of antelope, McDonald Observatory,Ft.Davis, but the clouds drifted in and a beautiful day ended in Marfia with Snow, falling temperatures, and us excited to finally get to see the "Mystery Lights". We sat and waited for two hours and watched it snow. Nothing. Back at the motel we discussed the weather, watched it snow, and decided to go back out to the site. At 9:00 we ate dinner and headed back out to the site. It snowed harder and we watched. Nothing. Around 11:00 we decided to go back to the motel as the snow got heavier. On the way back my better half, comments; "I guess the snow shorted them out"(the lights)I laughed so hard, I couldnt respond. When we woke up on Day 3 there was around 2-4 inches of snow on everything. We watched the local fox for weather reports to find they were expecting 5 more inches of snow...We didnt want to be stranded for several days,so we packed it up and headed south. Driving a path we thought would get us around the bad stuff. Wrong. It turned to rain. Then, we went North. Wrong. We drove in rain all day trying to get on home. When we arrived and sat down to watch the news, and realized we had been right in the middle of the storm all the way home. What a strange and fast last trip of 2006.

Working wife, like to read, gain knowledge and listen to 4news weather and sports. I think the crew at 4 does a great job, to keep me informed, of the local information I need. Thanks for letting me blog it as I see it. I try to keep an open mind. This is the Llano Bald Eagles nest. It is as big as a bail of hay. Just like this large empty nest, I am enjoying my empty nest. I too circle my prey, but, waiting to feed my need for "intellegent input",not rodents..
