SOS!! Just bought a new flat screen tv; and having a problem mounting it on the wall. It turns out the wall studs are spaced in such a fashion that if I were to use a standard wall mount device, the monitor would stick off the side of this wall rather than being centered. So, I'm wondering if any DIY watchers/handy-dandies out there have any suggestions on the best way to mount this monitor despite the studs in the wall.

DIY-er to the rescue! If you want the screen to be centered mount it on a swing arm. That way you can accommodate the studs and you can position the TV on the wall where you want all at the same time. Having been a frequent guest at your house (where everything is perfectly placed matched and coordinated) I am going to go out on a limb here and say the phrase "I'm not having some ugly swing arm on the wall for everyone to see" is about to pierce your lips. So, since this is a media room you are creating, you can cover the entire wall with a thick (and yes contemporary) material hung from a single streamlined steel rod. The material will have oversized grommets in it to hang from the rod which will reflect the contemporary design. The entire thing will be modern yet reminiscent of a true theater environment. The arm will pass through the material behind the TV leaving you with a finished wall that looks like it simply has a TV in the center of it.

Well, I have to say--aside from a big Texas-sized thanks--that I should have known you, MR.Deal0rDud, SaveMeSteve would have the perfect solution for my studordud dilemma. You know... have you ever thought about a career as a consumer reporter? :-)

Invite Mr. Deal or Dud over for a steak and have him mount it...

Well I honestly don’t’ know anything at all about these types of thing but I did ask a friend of mine and he suggested using a bracket to mount it on the wall. Good luck with the project and be sure to keep us posted
