FOX ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!

NEWSCORP, the parent company of FOX, FOX 4 and Regan books, has canceled the much-publicized O.J. Simpson book "IF I DID IT" and the related television interview describing how he would have killed his ex-wife and her friend. The interview was scheduled to air next Monday and Wednesday, November 27 & 29th on FOX 4 and other FOX stations around the country.

Word came down this afternoon just before 2:30 Dallas time about the cancellation. At this point no word though on the specific reasons why the plug was pulled. Of course outcry and outrage from FOX viewers, advertisers and affiliated T.V. stations across the country had been mounted. Several affiliates had already decided not to air the interview in the name of bad taste.

We're going to have more information on this development on FOX 4 News starting at 5 today. And we are also going to air some of your blog comments on FOX 4 NEWS at 5:30.

What do you think about this change of events?

Well, I was in support of Fox airing this and making his comments public but I am TOTALLY okay with Fox pulling it!

At first I didn't agree with this whole thing. After much thought and research, I decided not to Fox-bash but to take this as an opportunity to answer some unanswered questions, you know?

I think many MANY people will be pleased.

(UPDATE...as reported on the FOXNEWS.com website)

NEW YORK — News Corp., the parent company of book publisher HarperCollins and the FOX network, has canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book and television special "If I Did It."

"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."

A dozen FOX affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the book's publication.

Last week, Judith Regan, would-be publisher of Simpson's book, said she did not pay Simpson for the rights to publish his book, in which the one-time football superstar tells how he would have killed his ex-wife and her friend if, in fact, he had done it.

Wow!!! Power to the People!! Yay! I feel like our voices were heard! Woo hoo!

I'm sure the fact the Fox stood to lose MANY viewers played a HUGE part in their decision.

WAY to Fox and way to go Fox viewers!

It just reaffirms "Stand up and be heard" and "Every vote does matter"

If you look at the number of votes at vote.com today that were sent to the publisher it was on overwelming cry to stop the project.

The bottom line is that Fox News and all corporations connected with it are much more likely to do what is right for the general good

Which is why I favor Fox by a long shot.

Now I just hope everyone who criticized Fox takes this opportunity to thank them

(FOX STATEMENT CONTINUES...)

"What I do know is I didn't pay him," Regan said in an eight-page statement titled "Why I Did It" and released on Thursday. "I contracted through a third party who owns the rights, and I was told the money would go to his children. That much I could live with."

• Raw Data: Judith Regan Statement: 'Why I Did It'

Regan also said in the statement that she wanted Simpson's "confession" because she herself was once a victim of abuse.

"I made the decision to publish this book, and to sit face to face with the killer, because I wanted him, and the men who broke my heart and your hearts, to tell the truth, to confess their sins, to do penance and to amend their lives."

Although Regan has acknowledged that Simpson does not directly say that he killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, she said she considers the book to be his confession.

Regan said Simpson approached her with the idea for the book, which reportedly was sold for $3.5 million.

After word of the book emerged, Regan said she's watched as the media "have all but called for my death for publishing his book and for interviewing him."

"To publish does not mean 'to endorse'; it means 'to make public,"' she said.

"If you doubt that, ask the mainstream publishers who keep Adolf Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' in print to this day. ... There is historical value in such work ... for anyone who wants to gain insight into the mind of a sociopath."

"If I Did It," which was to be published by ReganBooks — an imprint to HarperCollins, was scheduled for release

I was really sick at my stomach when I heard that OJ was going to get some more publicity out of the murder of his Ex-wife. In my view his book amounted to little more than snuff literature (which is illegal)! Maybe they can prosecute him for that.

Anyway, I am glad to see that Fox has come to their senses and they are not going to put another dime into thepocket of this sociopath. I realize that in America we have rules against charging someone for the same crime twice but there should be an exception made when the person is dumb enough to make a public confessions afterwards.

Yes - I am sure that the votes at vote.com had a LOT to do with the book being pulled! Last I looked it was almost 40,000 votes in just 5 days to boycott the book! Imagine what it would have been in a week or two!

I applaud Fox for putting their programming veiwers BEFORE their programming advertisers/income producers.

Bravo!!

I am just SO glad to see the book deal self-destruct as well.

I was going to watch...hoping he'd say something that would drag his sorry butt back in court. The right decision was made...I'm certainly not disappointed it won't be airing.

My faith has been restored in FOX for pulling the OJ Simpson interview. No one should profit from blood money. It would have been horrible for the loved ones of the murder victims, too. It would have been like they were being murdered all over again - and to the amusement of America. VERY inappropriate. KUDOS again to FOX for coming to their senses!

Well O J just made millions of dollars for doing nothing. Yes, I’m sorry to say that he has already been paid. Will the Goldman's or Browns see any of this money? NO! Will we get to see or hear what goes on in the mind of a killer? NO! Will we have better understand on why this man did this? NO! What a shame.
I have heard people state how telling their stories in here might help someone. Well if we assume this is true. Then why wouldn’t we learn from O J and what makes a man go berserk and kill his ex? Wouldn’t knowing this information might help someone going thru the same thing Nicole was going thru? Would knowing this also help police in the future?
People seem to forget they have a choice to watch or not watch. It’s called the remote control button. The FBI spends millions interviewing and doing profiles on killers trying to get a better understand of them and how they think. But since a bunch of whining babies who don’t know how to chance the channel complain to Fox, we may never know what caused this terrible thing to happen. Or why it happen, or if another woman in the same situation may avoid this from happening to her. Knowledge is power. To gain that knowledge we have to listen and understand. But now we may never get that opportunity.
The next time you ask yourself, why did that person do that, or what would cause a person to do that. Remember you had a chance to find out about on such person. But now all you have found out is that he made three million dollars, and you don’t know jack.

Personally, I could care less what goes on in his mind. I don't think anyone's life will be "saved" by watching "O.J".
What makes you think he is truthful? If he was a truthful man, he'd be in jail. America spoke, Fox listened. Bravo!
