They're calling it the "social event of the season"! DIFFA Dallas' annual gala dinner & auction this past Saturday evening. But it's much more than that, it's a night to have fun fundraising more than a million dollars for AIDS Services Organiztions in North Texas which provide direct care for so many women, children and men who are affected by HIV/AIDS the day-to-day services and programs.

As a 2006-07 DIFFA Style Council Ambassador, (I'll post our "class photo"...coming up) I am honored, inspired and thrilled to be a part of this effort especially to inform others of the need to help record numbers of women and men in our area who are infected and affected by this disease. I volunteer at AIDS Services of Dallas and AIDS Interfaith Network to make a hands-on connection with those who need a helping hand...or a shoulder to lean on...or a hug to comfort.

A Texas-sized thank you for everyone who attended and who worked tirelessly to produce the annual black tie evening which this year was themed COLLECTION UPSIDEDOWN in part because of how HIV/AIDS has turned so many individuals', families', and communities lives...upsidedown.

The event also features amazing, wearable works of art--jean jackets that the non-profit taps creative designers and artists (from Ralph Lauren to Oprah) to recreate. The jackets are then auctioned off fetching 10's of thousands of dollars for the ASO's.

As always I invite and encourage you to volunteer, if not with DIFFA any non-profit because you can make a difference.
