WELL, THEY DID IT! At last count 16,325 kids registered for the Mayor’s Summer Reading Program (MSRP) this year. Which, as I've proudly mentioned before, exceeds last year's total number of readers. The program ends officially Saturday, July 28th; but I know these kids won't stop reading!
It's been so rewarding and fun for me once again to serve as spokesman for the program and go around to so many of the library branches to visit with the kiddos; share in storytime with them; and encourage them to read! FOX 4 & MY27 are proud sponsors of the MSRP.
Now I can't wait to see how many HOURS the kiddos read this year. Afterall that's what the MSRP is all about--not how many books, magazines, etc. you read or have read to you--but the number of hours you read...and keep a log of. Of course the kids have garnered prizes throughout the summer based on their logged hours; but the party isn't over yet. I invite everyone out to Dallas City Hall on Saturday, August 18th for a fun-filled party to honor the kids and say thanks to all our sponsors.
Hope you can make it! And remember, kids, keep on reading because READERS ARE LEADERS!!

It is so exciting to share my thoughts with YOU through MYFOXDFW.COM and to read all about what YOU have to say about practically any and everything--from family, politics, and games to FOX4NEWS stories. Our blog on MYFOXDFW sets us so far apart from other tv news station blogs because MYFOXDFW is just that--it's personally YOURS & mine. It's another great way for us to communicate...for us to get to know one another. In fact you can think of me as your own personal FOX4NEWS/MYFOXDFW BLOG CORRESPONDENT. So feel free to leave me a comment(s) on my blog at "BARONVONBLOGLOG"...hmmm maybe that should be the name of the tv segment? At any rate there's so much more (ie. photos, my hobbies, etc) that I'll be sharing with you from Baron's world in the days and weeks and years to come. I look forward to hearing from you.
