Is big business going to fair better when we have a Democratic President & Senate & House & except for Fox - the government will have it's own media.

If time allows, can "they" get a Supreme Court that will legislate liberally from the Bench?

We do have a government with checks and balances built into our structure. Or is that about to change and what will be the impact?

I'm sure some futurist somewhere has identified our future state based on the above scenario. If someone has seen the predictions, I'd like to see them.

Senator McCain,

The DNC's event was spectacular and comparison's to the Republican event will distract from the content. We need a less conventional convention, and Gustav is supplying the venue.

Responsibly and safely mobilize everyone and move to key evacuation locations. Leverage mobile video technology and use the media to make the nominations and speeches from locations that will facilitate integration of Gustav content and comment on actions taken by everyone - with some extra focus on the Republican efforts.

It will be a far less "glamorous" event, but will be truely focused on the masses and the needy and the group thought of as the lost people during Katrina.

Let's get it done now. Direct the team to find the locations and notify the media of estimated times of speeches which will be integrated into live action related to Gustav. This will at the same time, leverage the media's reach, but also integrate, versus compete, with Gustav coverage.

Do it now.

If I have 1 Million dollars and I want to donate it to John McCain, could I do it legally?

Can I put on a car wash via the internet and donate the profits. If I can get 1000 locations to wash 10 cars at $100 each I could then donate that $1,000,000 as a result of a car wash drive.

I can send each location $1000 as start up costs. They must sell the car washes, do the work, pay for water, etc.. They can keep what they earn as long as they donate $1,000 to John McCain.

Would each location be required to identify each person, for each car washed that delivered the $1,000 to the campaign?

If it were a bake sale, would each person that buys something be required to provide identification so that all funds earned can be identified by dollars per individuals. Who donated what baked product and at what expense? Who paid for the product that is donated to my bake sale. Could I "help" pay for start up costs in 1000 locations without disclosure? Who would oversee such a thing? Who would be the watchdog so to speak?

Just me thinking out loud. Started reading Moveon.org and came up with odd ideas. I could look up the rules, just too lazy and the lawn needs some whacking.

It could be argued that Oprah would bring the woman vote - fill the void created by Hillary's exit.

Aside from being 1 step from the Presidency what is it that a VP does? A role in Congress, but really - an ambassador.

What would the Billionaire get out of it - power.  The kind of power that can only come from the #2 position in the largest power in the world. Next stop, the #1 position.

What would we get out of it? I don't know but she's brought herself from nothing (to be rude), to the position of wealth and power she has now. So - she's no dummy. Personally I'll be voting the other way so I'm doing a little of the devil's advocate here but worse things could happen than have financial wizard running the country.

I don't watch her show. And I am assuming she's American without a zealot view of religion.

Wild Bill is running around trying to remain a celebrity following his Presidency. Why not once again take the celebrity to top office?

Just me rambling again. Go back what y'all were doing.

Texas Supreme Court Says Sect Kids Should Go Back

Well I think the courts have got smart. Hopefully the loopholes in the ruling doesn't lead to more embarrassment for the State. Nevermind freaked out kids.

I still have images of the Baptist buses pulling up to the location. I have wondered why they were used by the State to raid the city, if that's what it was/is.

Hopefully the kids aren't totally freaked out.

For those wanting to impose a kind of moral standard, I'm all for it but think a better way can be found with more concern for the immediate impact on the kids.

People that are experts in their field, selling their products. What's more normal. Politicians are not automatically knowledgeable on all things. Experts must be able to present Pros & Cons. to these politicians so that they can make the best decisions. Acting ethically on the information presented is what's needed.

An observation today from an Advertising magazine (Ad Age I think) pointed out that 2 Unions are paying for advertising in support of Mr. Obama in Texas and California I think. Somehow I think Unions are exempted from the PAC associations thing. But they are spending millions.

Who knows but these candidates can't win. If they are too rich, they are buying the office, if they are too poor, nobody knows them. If they get their names out there using PAC money they are thought of as crooks now-a-days. So in the end, I think it's just a matter of which talk show lady pushes more buttons.

But at least we don't have that President-for-Life thing that some other countries have. But I think it's possible to have a Speaker for Life. I'm thinking Ms. Pelosi could be attacking the administration 30 years from now when Jenna Bush gets re-elected. *g

Adventurer Steve Fossett Declared Dead ...Is the headline I just read. First I thought that took 7 years - but of course my knowledge base in TV so go figure.

Assuming his estate spent some money on search teams, also assuming other law enforcement bodies did the same... WE CAN'T FIND HIM IN NEVADA?

No chance of finding anyone in Pakistan then. I just didn't realize how hard it is to find someone. Too much time on TV I'm thinkin'. I just assumed that in 2008 we could zoom in a satellite and find what we wanted. So much for Big Brother.

For those rich people out there -- we have an opportunity here. Search and Rescue Satellites and software. Give the software out FREE, to a large user base, as we do to search the stars, and have them search and find people. Charge the Gov't if they want to know where to find whoever.

In uniform equals soldier. Out of uniform equals civilian. At least that's the way it was.

But now, as near as I can tell, the closest thing to a uniform for the insurgents (and other bad guys) might be a ski mask. But if a kid with a bomb wants to penetrate a local bar before detonating, he/she isn't likely to wear the mask. The young boy is martyred and gets his virgins in paradise. I'm not sure what they are promising the girls to get them to blow themselves up.

My only point is, I hear various news reports of xx number of civilians killed in _____ fill in the blank... bomb blast, crossfire, etc. Who jumps up and says they are civilian? And when we hear of a "poor little boy" who was shot by security forces, who decided that this young person wasn't carrying a bomb or carrying a weapon. The Islamic radical army starts very young.

I'm getting a bit callous on this subject but along with true innocents, evil little people are dieing and bad people are calling them innocent to gain more and more public outcry and negative press for the "war"- and of course if at all possible legal and civil charges.

I liked George as Patton. I liked what he had to say. Perhaps it is over the top in some respects but I do agree if you enter into a war, you should enter to win.

But then how do we define war.

What will the next generation remember?

Everyone will say that no one wins in war.

Ask the South Vietnamese - they can tell you who lost.
Go track down a Nazi in Portugal and ask him what happened to that dude with the funny mustache. He knows what losing is as well. And he knows who beat him.

I heard a guy yesterday say something close to "...we need to stop this war now..." As if our leaving stops the war. Then he quoted something from a news broadcast related to Bush inventing a need to go to war. When I asked him about the various warnings and deadlines that Saddam had ignored, he didn't know what I meant. All he knew is the WMD claims in the media. I'm not the expert on any of this but this guy was clearly making all of his decisions on the issue based on NBC or similar newscasts.

Our exit from situations like Iraq bring with it deaths in the hundreds of thousands and in the case of Vietnam and Cambodia, the pundits say millions. A better foothold in the area can slow the progression of an evil that will make it to our shores soon enough.

We need a better plan. And a plan that's developed by people involved in the business of winning wars. Not media hungry power junkies or individuals more interested in establish the Bush administration as a "regime" than fixing gang issues in their states.

Just one example...

The concerns Chertoff raised also were amplified by news reports of threat assessments from U.S. intelligence officials indicating al-Qaeda is getting stronger. The Associated Press reported Thursday that a draft National Intelligence Estimate shows that al-Qaeda has boosted efforts to sneak operatives into the USA and has acquired most of the capabilities it needs to strike here. The AP story was based on government sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because the report has not been finalized. The information could not be independently verified.

AP prints it although it has not verified the information. Just wrong to begin with, but the whole idea that the AP or any other person or group can get this information (and information that's much more secretive) is just wrong. "On the condition of anonymity" seems to be the favorite phrase and requires investigation if involves ANY government official.

Government officials releasing information, without authorization, should be tried as traitors. Jail time plus...

I like Sheehan's comment about being able to give Pelosi "a run for her money".

My warped brain just thinks it's Da Vinci code stuff for diluting the potential political "support" funds into Sheehan's pocket if Pelosi doesn't do what "somebody" is saying needs to happen. The Kahuna of Dem's says to impeach or no mo money for you. Get replaced in California, no more Madam Speaker. Hmmm... would then Ms Sheehan be Speaker someday?

When Senators make the point that they have dealt with 5 or 6 Presidents,  to me it just underscores the need to set some limits.

A fraction of the state's population votes, and the state has an even smaller fraction of the U.S. population. Yet these people elect the incumbent, again and again and let him/her rise to the top of the power grid. The tremendous power doesn't come from the constituents however but from the committees they end up chairperson.

Once given the power over the most powerful committees, I'd hope that they would focus on the role, not the power. When someone refers to a Senator from Vermont as one of the most powerful people in government - how does that happen.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., right, accompanied by Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., discusses the committee's issuance of subpoenas for the legal basis of the Bush administration's domestic surveillance program, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, on Capitol Hill in Washington. Okay really the title pretty much covers the subject and what I know about it.

But I watch out for too much media and congressional attention in one direction. As they use the media to shape opinions (and then the polls), we need to watch what "else" is going on around the world. It may all be about oil, but it's not all about Iraq.

Continue to watch out for this idiot in Venezuela and for all Americans doing business there. It's all downhill from here.

But as you watch what should be minor Senators from relatively small US States, take media attention by throwing rocks are the President, consider what they are NOT talking about. And why not.

Watch for the Speaker to visit with Hugo Chavez to understand what he doesn't like about President Bush. Not to find out about what can change, what he wants, or which god he thinks he is, just to find out what can help topple the current Republican party in the US.

If you want to learn more on the Chavez story, login to his site and decide for yourself. Don't let talking heads tell you what he's thinking. But Spanish will be helpful.

We should all talk to our friends about letting our opinions be shaped by the 10 seconds media gives to certain sound bites. We talk about it, but do we strongly tell our friends and family.

Whoever spoke about CSPAN and deciding for yourself, has the right idea. The absolute worse thing any American can do is listen to the commentary following any political debate.

Okay, back to my little ranch and other things to do.
