Scary stuff... two men rammed a woman and her two daughters in their minivan... with the intent of robbing them, then stealing their minivan.

So the question is... what do you do... It's after midnight... you get rearended... you're in a safe neighborhood, just blocks away from your house... what do you do??

Personally I probably would have done the same thing... gotten out to see if the "other guy" is OK.  So if this basic act of courtesy is being taken advantage of... what do we have left??  Would you have to drive off the next time it happened?

I tell my wife... if it happens to you... just call 911, tell them what happened, tell them you feel uncomfortable... and ask them if they'll stay on the line with you until the situation is resolved.

Any thoughts??

Brandon

Calling 911 is a good idea at that time of night. If there are not a lot of other cars/people around, it's also a good idea. Another thing is drive to a fire station if there is one close by. You can motion for the other driver to follow. If they are up to no good, they won't. No way would I be getting out of the car at that time of night.

When I took a Defensive Driving course, the teacher recommended we keep an index card in our glove box with insurance information on it. That way if it is a late night, person alone situation, you can roll your window down a crack, hand out the card and drive, if possible to a well lit or well secured spot. Fire stations, police stations, busy stores are all recommended. Call 911 and do what they say. This goes for men as well as women.

Brandon is right. Stay in car and call 911 and wait until help arrives.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I like the index card idea, I never thought of that.

I am a reporter for Fox-4. I've been here in North Texas for 10 years now. I love to hear from smart viewers who not only watch the news, but listen too. So with that said... send me your thoughts. Did I cover a story that moved you, angered you, made you smile, laugh, or look at our world in a different way? Let me know.
