I was watching an entertainment show last night and they replayed a portion of the morning talk show the "View". I got to witness the "shootin' " match between Rosie and Elizabeth.

Now I must say that I do not know who this Elizabeth is, since I don't watch the program. But I DO know Rosie. Frankly I suspect that everyone within shouting distance of her voice probably knows her now.

What I witnessed in that squib was a display of discourtesy that were I either one's mother, I should drag the brat off the stage and administer a goodly does of soap to mouth.

Rosie O'Donnell made her name through comedy and I understand that she's considered quite talented in that arena. I know she once had her own talk show and that people called her a nice person. What I wonder, therefore is; who IS this person who so resembles Rosie in form and feature but who so obviously is an alien plant, for there appears nothing nice in the makeup of this woman on the "View" who calls herself "Rosie".

Is it because her show was canceled and she's not got over the implied rejection as yet? Is it because she's trying to stretch herself by entering wider arenas like political analysis or commentary and failing miserably? Is it because she's not getting any younger and begins to feel the relentless push of diminishing time to accomplish her goals in life? I do not know and will not guess.

What I do know is that the Rosie O'Donnell I saw yesterday evening is a person that I would gladly walk miles to avoid! Loud, obnoxious, rude, crass, coarse and thoroughly unlikable. UGH!

I understand she is leaving the "View". Could she perhaps be persuaded to leave the country as well? Perhaps take up residence in Iran? I'm sure those Wahabist Muslims could turn her vinegar to honey or if not, they would have no compunction about cutting out her tongue. Aahhh, the blessed silence which would ensue.

Where's Carol Burnett when we need her!?

The above is a personal opinion and frankly, I don't care what anybody else thinks of her. I merely wish to be afforded the pleasure of her absence. Since you won't change my mind on this score (and yes, I know about her work for charity and I know about her kids and I STILL would rather forget that I have to share a planet with her), any observations pro-Rosie will not be read by me. Sorry, kidlets, but it is MY blog, after all.

I actually saw the entire exchange as it happened yesterday, it was simply a loud display of nothing. And, although it was loud, I didn't think it was that bad. I've heard Ford versus Chevy arguements that were worse...

This is what happened to Rosie. Numberone, people pretend to be :shocked" by Rosie's sexual orientation- but if you watch comedy at all, it shoudl have been no less shocking that Ellen Degeneres'. In fact, if one was shocked, it should have been in the other direction. I knew this in the early 90's.

Fast forward a few years, and Rosie has lept from the stage to the big screen, and on to the little screen, of daytime TV. Out from the comedy clubs, and into broadcast television, daily. Consequently, Rosie had (has) a public forum through which to voice her opinions. This allows the entire country judge her every time she opens her mouth. The simple solution would be to close it then, right? But, just because people don't like to hear what she has to say, doesn't mean that she is wrong to voice her opinion.

Rosie said she's against the war, but supports the troops. I can understand that. A lot of people, including me, feel the same way. We were duped, but- Rosie is public, so her wish to see the war end, and the troops come home is mor epublic than the average Joe's opinion.

Rosie isn't thrilled about the job performance of the President. It seems 65% of America agrees, with the President's approval rating at 35% last time I heard it broadcast.

What really drew fire (and public ire) for Rosie, and what I, in my unqualified opinion believe was t

the death blow for her talk show, is when she had Tom Selleck on her show, then she BLASTED him for his belief in guns, his support for NRA, etcetera. A LOT of Americans love their guns, and you aren't going to take 'em away, by God... So, on that day, I think Rosie sealed her fate in public opinion. Soon thereafter, the empire that was Rosie, began to crumble into oblivion. Before that, it seems the powers that be, were trying to dethrone Oprah, with Rosie. It didn't happen.

So, while Rosie can be silly and ignorant sometimes (Donald Trump, Tom Selleck), I think we all have our moments. She's entitled to her opinion, and the 1st Amendment gives her the right to say it, or write it. But, just like Don Imus, once you commit yourself, you have to be willing to deal with the consequences.

The arguement between Rosie and Elisabeth yesterday, made no more sense to me than the folks on here who continually bash Democrats, and the few who bash Republicans. They were both wrong to bring that kind of heat to the TV, but- that was MILD compared to Geraldo & Bill O'Reilly's public debate on immigration.

They always said to 'let sleeping dogs lie', now we'll never get rid of the fleas....

we should be blaming Barbara Walters for waking her up again.....

there's not enough pills to knock her out that hard again...........

they've found a spot for her, just haven't built the spaceship to take her there yet....

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if you don't like what you see, then CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!! Plain and simple =)

Liz"s last name is Hassleback. Familiar? How about her NFL husband? I can't remember her maiden name but I think she worked in TV news.

To bilmorgbc:
Thank you for the heads up about Elizabeth. I still don't know who she is, nor am I familiar w/her husband. But then I've not been "into" football since that SOB Jerry Jones fired Coach!

To Herschel:
Thank you for the fuller explanation. I'm happy to hear that it appears to be a tempest in a teacup. I hope that the others on the "View" are not negatively impacted by it.

To eric:
As I believe I said, I did NOT watch the show, I merely got the squib while watching another show. Since I was feeding the precious babies at the time, I had no way to rush back into the living room and change the channel. But, I will take your suggestion under advisement. How very clever an idea. *muttering* What makes him think I couldn't think of that myself?

To Cherokee55:
LOL. Good one. Barbara Walters lost MY respect when she tried to ruin Mel Gibson last year. I KNOW Mel, have known him for years and he's never done ANYTHING to merit her vituperative comment. If you don't remember the incident, my poor boy got a little snockered and got pulled over. The cop saw who he had and decided to have a little fun, teasing and making fun of Mel. Mel took it and then got tired of it and asked, "Are you a Jew or something?" The cop decided to take it the worst possible way and so a scandal was born. Barbara didn't bother check the facts. She smelled blood and set out to get some of it. She lost me and I hope lots of others. Apparently age is beginning to impair her judgement (see her hiring of Rosie). So sad.

Since you make it quite clear that you don't like Rosie O'Donnell, then I'm simply saying to you is don't associate yourself with her or try to avoid LISTENING to what the news says about her or The View. So, if a segment happens to come up, then change the channel or get out of the room. Is that simple enough for you?? =)

"Loud, obnoxious, rude, crass, coarse and thoroughly unlikable"
I so agree with that. She seems incapable of making a reason defense of her views, but wants to destroy everyone she disagrees with, which is 1/2 the population of the country.
Very pathetic, rude person.

As far as turning the channel, I like to watch Rosie make a fool of herself. It's funnier than anything she ever did as a comedian.

And as of TODAY, she's history. Rather than complete her final three weeks on the View, Rosie requested "out" and was released from the show.

She's just one of many in the entertainment world who speaks out; as is her Right, and, as is my Right, ignored.

I find myself disagreeing with experts. Why would I ever put any stock in what Rosie said?

who do you agree with on the political topic????

There were also rumors O'Donnell was so angry after her argument with Hasselbeck that she trashed her dressing room, although ABC denied the tantrum.

In response to your query, I fully support the troops. I write cards and letters to them as part of the "Thanks a Million" program. Our parish has "adopted" a tank squad and regularly sends them "care packages". I wear red on Fridays and I pray for them daily.

That being said and with all due respect to those who disagree with me, I will say that I also support President Bush. Bottom line for me is, (Ugly American that I am), better them than us. If those genocidal monsters want to butcher a significant portion of the human race, I'd a whole lot rather they had to do it on someone else's turf. I know, I know, baaaaad Annie. But this is survival and I want OUR way of life to survive! Reactionary? Yep! Color me Churchill rather than Chamberlain!

God bless those in power who see it my way! And God bless the troops who are willing to stand and fight to keep those never-to-be-sufficiently condemned murderers OFF our soil!

I think Rosie goes over the edge also...but if you had a sister like that...how would you explain it? I, also, have made some uncouth comments about Rosie...but, actually, I think she has some depression-mental issues which are taking her life over. She probably is living in a great deal of pain...if she is she needs someone to intercede for her..have you ever wondered what her partner's (Keli Carpenter) life is like, living with Rosie? Keli is the one I'd like to know ...she probably could write a "book"....and when Rosie runs her off...she probably will...mark my word.

All of you do understand that it was--at least on Rosie's part a scripted event. She doesn't do anything without a script, so it was planned by she and her writers. I am not sure about the part with Elizabeth--I would hope as a former survivor reality show contestant she is stronger than to have sat down to agree to follow some kind of script and to be on "display" as the whole thing was. What terrible TV. I too had thought last year when Rosie joined the show that it would be fun and interesting, but she came on with a certain agenda and it has been distasteful from day 2 of her appearance. WoW! I bet Barbara Walters feels like she has been hit by a F6 tornado and Huricane Katrina all at once!!!!

Will the show make it into its 11th season? If so--what direction--I hope not too far the oposite direction--I so used to enjoy the womanly opinions and discussions of Meredith V., Star Jones, even Joy--and whomever the younger person was at the time, but I have watched very little this last season. I did just happen to tune in to view the fire works live-! And you all do realize since they have terminated her before the end of her contract, ABC will get to pay her extra money. OH--could this have been the plan by she and her staff of writers????

I don't think that Rosie learned from Ellen's mistakes. When Ellen Degeneres and her then girlfriend, went adamant, angry and public with their relationship, her ratings plummeted. Today Ellen D. is respected as a decent host because unlike Rosie and all the others, she makes her show about her guests, not about her personal life or opinions. A long time ago, I quit watching the View, because I felt it was unbalanced and that it was obvious that a two-way discussion wouldn't be tolerated. This was even before Rosie. If you will look back at the show, Star Jones was probably the most conservative of the panel. And I think her background with the DA's office injected a bit of reality into this liberal ivory tower. Rosie, instead, has burned her bridges for ever doing anything for Disney, which lets out a huge chunk of the entertainment pie. Perhaps if she would find out fact and then base her opinions, I could at least respect her. But instead she uses copy and pasted opinions of those that she feels are her political mentors. I think she does more harm that good in promoting their views and she does significant damage to the survivors and families of 9/11 victims when she uses her rant for political gain. What is more frightening is that there are people who get all their news from internet sites that promoted conspiracy and intrigue over facts.

the sole purpose of making Rosie O Donnell part of the view team was to boost the ratings and it didnt matter to them that she was loud and obnoxious, she has NO class whatsoever, just goes to show money doesnt buy class.
