Let me say up front and aboveboard I am not an Ellen DeGeneres fan. And I DO think that many rescue operations are fine and caring organizatins whose first priority is a loving and permanent home for their rescuees.

That being said, however (watch it. The soapbox is armed and ready!)....

Ellen did the right thing and I applaud her caring efforts. She deserves our wholehearted support! Way to go, Ms. DeGeneres!

That "rescue" operator, Batkis, is a flippin' fraggin' fool! A control freak. A little tinpot dictator with delusions of godhood! She should be shut down permanently! Her total lack of commitment to anything but her own wishes is selfish, egocentric and just plain nasty!  BAH HUMBUG to her!

Harrrumph!

Many of MY precious babies are dumpees (a trailer park looks like a good spot to those who haven't got quite the meaness to dump them in the outback or on the freeway). With me they luck out, as one of my mottos is: "I'm in charge of quarters, rations and weather. My cats are in charge of everything else."  Another: "To my cats, I'm just warm-blooded furniture and I like it like that."  And another: "It's my cats' world. I'm just here to open cans."  And finally: "Slave to my cats...and d**n proud of it!"

For many yars I operated a clandestine rescue service. I NEVER charged a dime. I did do some checking into the potential new homes. I did get a legal agreement signed that said they would bring back the precious baby if for any reason they and the baby didn't work out and I DID do scheduled home visitations for the first 6 months. In some 25 years I only had 2 returned to me. One because the lady unexpectedly up and died and her heirs didn't want the cat. And the other because he was being transferred to a branch of his company in another country and couldn't, under that country's laws, bring his cat.

BUT, I did have 4 who passed the cat on to a new home. When I found out I simply went to those people, explained the situation, asked my questions, let them know that if it didn't work out the cat could come back to me without questions or reasons. I had no problems with these families. And I most assuredly did NOT snatch the kitty to my heaving bosom and storm out, leaving a trail of tearful children. BAAAAAAD Batkis!!!!!

This silliness is what happens when people treat animals like humans and when people value animals over humans.

She signed a contract - she broke the contract. Now the woman has to close her business because of people crying over a dog!

How stupid.

DeGeneres is a coward.
She is the one who broke the contract.
She had the power and audience to cry and get her boo boo kissed.
The people who were doing what they should get crushed by the weight of irate fans.
where is the justice in that?
if DeGeneres had a problem, why not work it out like the rest of us (the real world) has to do...instead of pleading like a 14 year old on a tv program? She did it the way she did, because the 'celebrities' think the rules do not apply to them...and if they get caught...they want their fans to come to their rescue.

Whether or not that is true is moot. What IS important is A)that puppy and B) those sad-eyed kids.

That female Batkis could have handled this situation the same way I did, but no, she hadda throw her weight around because, after all, SHE'S in control not that celeb DeGeneres! So there, too!

That woman broke down on tv and just wanted that little girl to have the dog back. BTW, They never checked out Ellens house and thats also their policy. I cried with her.
