I heard a Viewer voice the following question: How come the Feds say it's unconstitutional and illegal for landlords to ascertain the legality of their tenants but its obligatory for employers to do the same?

HEY! FEDS! Wake up and smell your hypocrisy! Oh you idiot judges!

If an employer can be penalized with a stiff fine and even jail time for NOT ascertaining the residency/citizenship status of an employee, then why is a landlord to be equally fined and/or sent to stir for requiring the EXACT SAME THING from a potential tenant?

It's been well and truly said that lawyers and judges must take courses in the art of straining at gnats and swallowing camels before they can be admitted to the practice of the law. I always thought that was a bit of an exaggeration. Brother! Was I ever wrong!

Do at least try to get your acts together....for the novelty of it if nothing else.

Either it is legally REQUIRED to hire and house ONLY legal residents of these United States OR it is against the law to do either. Take your pick, one or the other, but enough of this BS about trying to have it both ways. You merely confirm the public's already low opinion of your intelligence, your decency, your willingness to do the job for which we overpay you. Give it up, judges. We're on to you. You're just as in the dark as the rest of us. And since you are NOT the ones who make the laws, why not join with us and get our elected representatives off their fat cat butts and make them pass some legislation that will clarify this thorny issue for us all, citizens, legal and illegal immigrants included?

I never understood this anyway. Okay,it's supposedly illegal to hire an illegal, then where is an illegal getting the money for rent? Unless things have changed since I tried to rent one,you have to have decent credit to rent an apartment. How do illegals get credit?

So true!... this is the foolishness of the liberal, anti-American ACLU types and LULAC.

Illegal is illegal and there are always those wishing to ignore the law they don't like and blame the rest of the population.

They get cc's via Bank of America who does't REQUIRE SS#'s from them, as they do CITIZENS. Lovely isn't it.

What a rip off - local law can't surpass federal law, and federal law is sitting on it's butt doing nothing ( they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so they do nothing ) !

There's less crap in my sewer line, than any one congressman, and federal judges are a bigger - total joke.

12 States have legalized Medical Marijuana. They correctly fell that marijuana has medical benifits. The federal government does not recognize their,(the states), laws regarding medical marijuana. The federal government says that marijuana has no medical benifits at all. When a big pharmacuetical company came out with a "marijuana" pill, suddenly IT has medical benifits. The only reason I can think of for this contradiction is MONEY for the big pharms. Big pharmacuetical companies=$$$lobbiest=$$$politicians.
Special interest groups rule, not us.

Totally agree BZH! The right foot has no idea where the left foot is headed, as far as the government is concerned.

It just amazes me how Ironman can turn any topic into a referendom for legalizing drugs.

bil, just trying to show how corruption works. Money runs this country, we got nothing to say about it. If they aint corrupt before they're elected, they get that way pretty quick. The drug warriors are just one aspect of it. Look at the deal with AA. Inspectors got too cozy with the airline. Of course no money changed hands, Ya right.

The nice thing is that WE CAN CHANGE THIS! It's an election year, folks. Do a little homework on your computer. Find out where your candidates stand on these issues. Vote for the ones who stand with you. Work for those candidates. And if they break their word, then give 'em hell. Write, call, text, fax, blog. Let everyone know. I do. Join me!
