1. The Supreme Court has overturned the punitive damages awarded against Exxon for the Exxon-Valdez incident. Dropping them from 2 and 1/2 BILLION dollars to 500 million dollars. Half a billion is bad, but five times that is unconscionable. And you and I both know who the H E double hockeysticks is gonna be paying that judgement!!! As if gasoline prices weren't high enough. THANK YOU Supreme Court justices. I hereby take back 15% of the nasty things I ever said of you.

2. The Dallas City Council is proposing a new pet limitation ordinance - 1, count 'em, ONE pet per household. Note to those anti-companion s.o.b.s. Last time I looked even the ASPCA said that the majority of pet owners are responsible citizens about their precious babies. AND, last time I looked this WAS a democracy. You know what that is, don't you? It's a form of government whereby the MAJORITY rules. You do NOT punish the majority for the infringements by the minority! Kick your brains into gear, twits! The way you've written that ordinance means that if a person has two GUPPIES, fer heaven's sake, they'd be in non-compliance with your silly law and liable to fines, penalties, maybe even jail time. Find another way to deal with the poor babies that no one wants. How? Hmmmm...you ever hear of a little invention called - the computer? And its lovely data-bases? Why not set up a secured data base that every vet in the area can access. Whenever said vet performs a spay or neuter, he/she can enter the salient data into that data-base for perusal by any animal control officer. Ditto for annual vaccinations. Anyone harboring pets without entries in said database then must prove that their baby is indeed protected against rabies, etc. as well as being unable to procreate, unless a show or breeding animal. Let the owners of same pay a small fee for that privilege. And if you really give a rat's bare patootie, set up a fund that assists the less fiscally fortunate to get their animals neutralized and protected. GIVE, NOT SELL, certificates that show that the precious companion is duly legalized by the city. And then set up a place where people can take their pets to be permanently marked (tattoo or micro-chipped) for a nominal fee (NOT an arm and a leg!). Much better than making outlaws of more than half the city's pet-owning population, doncha think?

HEY! Jerkasauruses! Those who are pet people WILL remember this come next election!! Oh, not me, personally. I left the city of Dallas 20 years ago. I do not live there. I do not work there. I do not shop there. I buy not one thin dime' s worth of anything from any merchant there. And if this idiocy becomes the law of the city, I never will! How many of you people are little tinpot dictator wannabes with god complexes? Never mind. I don't expect an answer to that question.

Hmmmmph!!

1 pet? that's ridiculous. They should give a ribbon to responsible pet owners that have more than one...it would mean at least one more off the street and one less they put to sleep.

I love animals I always have. I have always bred standard poodles . Right now I have four. They are spoiled rotten babies who live lives a great many people would envy. For someone to come along and tell me I can only have one is just unbelievable. It might as well be China with a one child policy.

There are -- too many to list -- kids in Dallas that would LOVE to live in the lap of luxury my pets do. They all have plenty to eat (and the very best of high quality all natural foods, too), toys to play with and a nice warm bed to sleep in every night. They have no idea that they are not human. I don't live in Dallas, but unless you come in with a search warrant, you'll never know that I even have pets. And, yes sir, I have more than one, er.. two, er, three, oh four. Yes, even more.

are you running an illegal hamster operation rusty?

We have 2 dogs to keep eachother company when we're not there. I think that is a reasonable amount - any more and pack-mentality takes over, any less and they get lonely. I think it is terribly cruel to make people in Dallas (most of which are away from the house all day) stick to one, lonely stinking pet.

maybe we should limit the city council to one 1 year term.

They are limiting people to 6 dogs and requiring permitting for breeders. When people live right on top of eachother I see NOTHING wrong with limiting their animals to a pack and requiring permitting for anyone who is going to be flooding the market with puppies.

Texaninfidel, thanks for the correction. But I stand by my refusal to have anything to do with Dallas. Its city councils have for yars done their level best to abrogate the civil rights of its citizens. I don't know how you people put up with it.

I'm not in Dallas, but I'm close enough to feel the effects of Dallas' BS. I pay higher taxes to live near a shthole since I'm in Dallas county. I feel the effects of higher crime. Good for them for limiting it to 6 - should have been 3. When people live on top of eachother like that it is disgusting to have that many animals!

Texaninfidel: Sure hope that means you don't live down here in my neck of the woods. I run a shelter for unadoptable cats and kittens. The disabled, the maimed, the abused, the chronically ill, the genetically dysfunctional. The ones nobody wants because they come with built-in problems. MY precious babies,(number subject to change without notice), are the best friends I ever had, the most loving, the most happy of God's creatures. It's downright miraculous to watch them bloom when they realize that here they are unconditionally loved and very much wanted.

And those masty little Hitler wannabes would condemn them to death for the crime of being less than perfect. Well, flippy-bird to them, I say!

You are free to do as you want with your kittens - they make my eyes swell shut! However, why should tax payers be forced to keep animals alive? That should be left up to charities. Many of our social programs should be left up to charities, not gov't entities.

I am anti-big gov't so I think you should be able to do as you wish as long as you aren't infringing on other people's rights. Taxes would be much lower, allowing us more freedom to pursue our own charities, if we didn't fund all of these social programs. It is a black hole they throw money in!

Ok it's 6 dogs, sounds a lot better than 1 dog.
