Which do you prefer? For the longest time I used an electric can opener. I always had a hard time getting the can to stay in the slot where the can opener is supposed to open the can when it rotates. UGH!! Not to mention if I had a bigger than usual size can to open. After time and time again of battling with this electric can opener, I've finally decided to buy a hand held. I now no longer dread opening a can... not to mention my nerves are no longer shot. What do you prefer when it comes to can openers?

Back 2 - we've probably spent over a hundred dollars on different types of can openers ! We have wall mounts, electric and cordless, rechargeable units, you name it we've tried it.
Still, when I need to open a can, I have to get one we've had for thirty years, to get one open !

One year we got one for Christmas (an expensive thingy), and it wasn't worth a BLEEP. We held on to it for a year, and took it back where they had got it - the next Christmas !
Got us enough for a bottle of wine and a tank of gas. Things we could really use ! LOL

I have a hand held one that I really like. Its from the Pampered Chef and it cuts just below the rim so nothing nasty gets in while you're opening up your can.

Gte a good Kitchen Aide hand held can opener. They are the best. Electric ones are a waste of money and always end up breaking.

Noob, the old, nasty ones work the best. I also have one. I have several of the cooking utensils my mother used when I was a young boy. They are old, nasty, and still going strong !!

Moankie, I hope your electric can opener is better than mine was. I have relatives that use elecric can openers for the same reason.

I prefer the hand held version. I've got real nice one and a so-so backup. I've gone through too many electric can openers to invest in another one. They work good for about the first two months you have them, then they c*rap out on you.

BTW Back2Nature, do you have an e-mail address where I can send one of my "squirrel tales" to? I was going to post it on my blog, but it's too long, anyway, I thought you'd enjoy it.

Great post!
