Does anyone remember when waterbeds use to be a popular thing? I never bought one, but I came close several times while trying them out. Some I remember, you could lay on and really feel the waves and also come a little close to feeling kind of woozy. Some were not too bad and had a little bit of firmness to them. Those were the ones I liked. Some also had heaters to help keep the water in the bed warm. A few times I came across baby beds that came with a waterbed in them. I knew some people who had bought waterbeds and later regretted it. They complained about it making them feel achey and sore. Not to mention always getting small leaks in them once in a while. As bad as I felt for them, it made me glad that I never gave in to the temptation of buying one. Give me a regular bed any day. If I want to be in the water, I can always go to a swimming pool or the lake! (hahaha) Did any of you buy a waterbed and later regret it, or did you always enjoy having one? If you did buy one, do you still have it and possible still use it? Some people just got rid of the waterbed matress and kept the frame and put a regular matress inside. What's your waterbed story?

In the early 80's me and my hubby had one...it was so much fun until....i had a baby by c-section. i wasn't able to get in and out of the bed without help. But we did love the bed other than that.

I had one - I LOVED it! Could set it all warm in the winter and turn down the heat and turn it off in the summer to make it all cool! But then I got adopted by a stray who was preggers. She left me 4 little kittens and I kept on waking up at 3am with little tiny holes and water leaking out - finally had enough of patching it up and gave it to The Salvation Army and got a regular bed. Never slept as good since *lol*

Hi, B2N!

I never owned a waterbed...

I always thought that they would make me nauseous. Back in the day, we considered getting one, but I changed my mind after hearing horror stories of how they can burst.

Do they even sell waterbeds anymore?

Good Morning B2N, TM, Skoot and Onyx.

I have ALWAYS loved waterbeds. Owned a few. But, my hubby never cared too much for them.

I kept the frame once and put a mattress in it but, it did not fit quite well, so, we went on to a regular king size bed and there we stayed.

But, I have to say, I never had a problem with one. Loved being cool in the summer and warm inthe winter.

Have a great day!!

When my husband and I got married in 1984 the waterbed was our choice and we slept on it for the next 20 years, I slept like a baby everynight, never woke up in the middle of the night ever! then the dreaded DIVORCE came and I tried to set up the waterbed in my apartment and did, but it got a few holes in it from the move, I messed with it a few months and decided to buy a real mattress, I put this matress in my waterbed frame and tried to sleep on it for 4 years, I haven't had a good nights sleep since my waterbed, well I got remarried a couple of years ago and about a year and a half ago we bought a whole new bed and it broke my heart but I finally just got rid of that waterbed frame in 2007- Oh the new bed aint no good either- it's way to high off the ground and we got a queen size and boy was that a mistake- I can't get away from my husbands snoring unless I sleep on the couch LOL which I have been doing for the last few months sooooo I guess you could say the honeymoon's over until I get my wonderful KING size waterbed back! Give me a waveless waterbed any ole day! anyone want to trade for a brand new bed? frame and all?

I had one for well over twenty years, king size, book case, almost as nice as the one pictured above. I loved it. My wife however has a BAD motion sickness problem. She couldn't sleep on it with me. That, and an incident when we did sleep together on a regular bed, I rolled over, and bashed her right in the nose, is why we have seperate bedrooms. No she couldn't sleep on it, but loved to play on it. :)

My then-boyfriend had one back in the late 1980's. I got used to it, but still prefer a regular mattress. I certainly wouldn't buy one today, that's for sure. Great post, B2N!
