Rudy Giuliani's priest has been accused in grand jury proceedings of molesting several children and covering up the molestation of others. Giuliani would not disavow him on the campaign trail and still works with him.

Mitt Romney was part of a church that did not view black Americans as equals and actively discriminated against them. He stayed with that church all the way into his early thirties, until they were finally forced to change their policies to come into compliance with civil rights legislation. Romney never disavowed his church back then or now. He said he was proud of the faith of his fathers.

Jerry Falwell said America had 9/11 coming because we tolerated gays, feminists and liberals. It was our fault. Our chickens had come home to roost, if you will. John McCain proudly received his support and even spoke at his university's commencement.

Reverend John Hagee has called the Catholic Church the "Great BLEEP." He has said that the Anti-Christ will rise out of the European Union (of course, the Anti-Christ will also be Jewish). He has said all Muslims are trained to kill and will be part of the devil's army when Armageddon comes (which he hopes is soon). John McCain continues to say he is proud of Reverend Hagee's endorsement.

Reverend Rod Parsley believes America was founded to destroy Islam. Since this is such an outlandish claim, I have to add for the record, that he is not kidding. Reverend Parsley says Islam is an "anti-Christ religion" brought down from a "demon spirit." Of course, we are in a war against all Muslims, including presumably Muslim-Americans. But since Parsley believes this is a Christian nation and that it should be run as a theocracy, he is not very concerned what Muslim-Americans think.

John McCain says Reverend Rod Parsley is his "spiritual guide."

What separates all of these outrageous preachers from Barack Obama's?
You guessed it. They're white and Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not. If it's not racism that's causing the disparity in media treatment of these preachers, then what is it?

Wright5prnlx
I'm willing to listen to other possible explanations. And I am inclined to believe that the people these preachers go after are more important than the race of the preacher. It's one thing to go after gays, liberals and Muslims - that seems to be perfectly acceptable in America - it's another to accuse white folks of not living up to their ideals.

I think there is another factor at play as well. The media is deathly afraid of calling out preachers of any stripe for insane propaganda from the pulpits for fear that they will be labeled as anti-Christian. But criticism of Rev. Wright falls into their comfort zone. It's easy to blame him for being anti-American because he criticizes American foreign and domestic policy.

If Rev. Wright had preached about discriminating against gay Americans or Muslims, there probably would not have been any outcry at all. That falls into the category of "respect their hateful opinions because they cloak themselves in the church."

But one thing is indisputable - the enormous disparity in how the media has covered these white preachers as opposed to Rev. Wright. Have you ever even heard of Rod Parsley? As you can see from what I listed above, all of these white preachers have said and done the most outlandish and offensive things you can imagine - and hardly a peep.

If the disparity in coverage isn't racist, then what is it?

DDawg,

Now this post has some depth to it. I totally agree with what you are saying. All of the pastor's that you have just mentioned are pretty much in the same category, with out any form of racism from my end. Now the media, CNN for example, will only report one side of the story and just harp on it until you think its dead, and then harp on it some more. It is completely foolish on the media's part for doing so.

DDawg, please look at the section titled Separation of Church & Government on my webiste www.planb4america.com. I know you think it is a HILLARY AD, but those were posted by other individuals, not myself. So please set that aside and take a look at this one particular blog. It will make you question what these Pastor's are doing in relation to money, their 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Status & Political Race.

Wonderful Post DDawg. I will be back to comment some more in regards to this post.

Thanks,

MP

I believe the relationship between Reverend Wright and Barack Obama is the reason for the amount of media coverage of Reverend Wright. If you remember, Barack Obama referred to Reverend Wright as being his mentor (mentor being defined as trusted counselor or teacher). Since Barack Obama was a newcomer to the National stage, very little was known about him - his beliefs, ethics, et cetera. Consequently, in order to gain an understanding of who Barack Obama is required not only information about his job/political record, but also about his beliefs and ethics. To understand what his beliefs and ethics are requires an examination of his relationships and associations with other people.

I believe that Barack Obama has now made it perfectly clear that he does not share those beliefs of Reverend Wright that have created such a firestorm. Although Barack Obama's renunciation of Reverend Wright's statements could be a political strategy, I must take Barack Obama at his word until valid evidence is presented to alter my belief.

With regard to the "white preachers," I do not believe there is evidence to show that their relationship to John McCain is that of a "trusted counselor or teacher." I believe that John McCain accepted the "white preachers" endorsement for purely political reasons - votes.

I believe this entire fiasco is a perfect example of why politics and religion should be kept separate.

John McCain, sitting in Reverend Hagee's church for 20 years and having been married to his wife Cindy by Rev. Hagee, who also happened to baptize the McCain's children, said a bunch of stuff in the past about Catholicism that is likely not nice or palatable to most Catholics. McCain wrote a book inspired by Rev. Hagee's sermon, titled "Faith of My Father's" and says Rev. Hagee cannot be disowned by him any more than his grandmother.

All of this is, naturally, untrue - except that McCain wrote a book called "Faith of My Fathers"...

On the other hand, Obama says he knew William Ayers casually, and should not be associated with Ayers bombing and killing as a Weather Undergound leader because Obama was 8 years-old...

Ummm, Ayers is a terrorist no matter the time-frame.

Does anybody teach real relativism anymore? Oh, I forgot..."relativism" is now defined as "Don't define me, I'm the good guy."

Mark, you think these left wing idiots in here are going to listen or understand anything you tell them, lol If it doesn’t have a lie in it wrapped with a big red bow on it, they don’t believe it. But let’s look at there reasoning and take their logic a little further.
Black chiefs in Africa sold their people to white trade merchants. So by their logic, the slaves we got for the African Chiefs who enslaved there on people were the real cause of slavery in America.

The Huffington Post is writing about disparity in news coverage. What a joke.

i'd never heard that about the other preachers. the news should report it all...not just Obamas.

i don't see how preachers sleep at night knowing that have done some of the stuff they do (not all of them but the bad ones). it's a shame really...i remember when parents taught their kids to trust their preacher. now it's harder to do that because they are all not so trustworthy.

"Black chiefs in Africa sold their people to white trade merchants. So by their logic, the slaves we got for the African Chiefs who enslaved there on people were the real cause of slavery in America."

acoolone- this is actually partially true. Although they are not the "cause" as you put it, they definitely contributed.

And please, as hard as it may be for you to make comments without throwing out insults (
"these left wing idiots"),please refrain from this practice when replying to my blogs. Say what you want on your own, but I am trying to keep mine more civil and open to discussion with people that have different point of view rather then bashing one another.

I think the point of this article is made quite well. Of course people that already do not like Obama, or do not want him to be president will find flaws in the logic of it, but they are one-sided viewpoints with little or no room to accept information that may make them think in more depth about the possibility they may be wrong.

I look forward to November, we will be making history no matter which way we go, but I am confident Obama is going to pull it out in the end.
