A Dawg's eye view

by DDawg from Richardson

Last Post 8 hours Ago

A good friend of mine recently blogged on his myspace about a disagreement with his partner over politics and who to vote for. He made several very good points, but I won't quote them all, just the few that I think everyone should consider no matter who they are supporting:

"I personally don't care about the color or gender of the person who wants to be the leader of this country. My criteria is based on a little more substance than "who would be a cute prom date or who would make a good beer buddy."

1) Are you smarter than me?

2) Are you listening to me?

3) Can you relate to me?

4) Do you want to be President for yourself or for "us" (Americans...ALL Americans?)

5) Are you being disrespectful to your opponent(s)?"

He makes a good point, don't you think?

I should also note, as he recently said to me that G.W. Bush does not meet the above criteria.

How about:
1) do you follow the constitution?
2) do you love America?
3) do you have successful executive experience?

Please note the Dubya has these and Obama doesn't. I don't care if someone can relate to me because we are ALL so different. I care more that they can do what is right for EVERYONE - which can be summed up: "give me my money back you b" so I can give it to people myself.

Back to you!

DDawg, none of the 3 candidates relate to me.

Scotty - dead on. It is a sad day when Ru Paul comes the closest... And by Ru Paul I mean Ron Paul - have to clarify that I'm not a giant cross-dressing african american male with a vocabulary like a sailor.

Well TI I have to disagree that Dubya has all those. Loves America? perhaps, the part of America that lines his pockets maybe. Follows the constitution? hardly, ever heard of a little thing called the Patriot Act? One could argue it was unconstitutional, regardless of what the "motivation" was to institute it. And last but not least Successful executive experience? You must be joking. I wouldn't call being bailed out of school and the military by his rich family, failing at running oil company and a baseball team a success. He wasn't that good of a governor, and without all the support around him telling him what to do and say he wouldn't be a very good president either- wait, he's NOT a very good president...hmmmmm.

DDawg, you honestly don't expect things to get better no matter who wins of these 3 do you?

Here's one for you, DDawg. Hope you take it in the humor it is intended.

LOL Scotty good one. I think these are hilarious. Have you seen that float in the German parade with Hillary being bitten on the a** by the Obama dog? What a hoot!

I honestly do think things will get better with ONE of these candidates. The one that if he is elected will have changed the way we have been doing things forever. Even if he doesn't live up to anything else, just being elected we will have progressed as a nation and as people. We have to stop being so blinded by the media and the extreme on either side. I do believe that there is one candidate who will bring a sense of unity to a country where we are divided in more areas than I can count.

I still don't think that will happen DDawg. People are so undecided at this point, and I can see why. Every where you look and listen, skeletons are coming out of the closet on all of the candidates. Can't wait to see what happens!!

1) Are you smarter than me?- I'm pretty sure, all three are smarter than me

2) Are you listening to me?- None of them.

3) Can you relate to me?- None of them.

4) Do you want to be President for yourself or for "us" (Americans...ALL Americans?)- Never can tell until after they serve, then it's too late.

5) Are you being disrespectful to your opponent(s)?"- By the time this whole thing plays out, they will all be playing the "dirty little game".

Can we go one term without a President just as a experiment? LOL

TI, I take great offence to your sailor comment! LOL

I have fallen out of love with GWB...in a big way. Former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan was the first to make me realize it. When he signs off on laws that expand debt, size of government programs, the border, etc...I wonder what happened to my Party and how did it become a political BLEEP?

I'll still vote McCain, but only because the alternative is worse.

cbfan that would be a good idea if we could trust that congress had "we the people" in mind...

I respect your view, DDawg.

I'm not saying I'm still in love with GWB - I'm just saying, he's better than what we have to vote for. Anyone notice them pressuring him to pass global warming legislation? Now that they realize it is becoming known as BS they are trying to get him to take the fall haha.

GWB belongs in a zoo.

Sorry TI, I like you, but I couldn't disagree more. ANY of the three current choices are better than GWB.

don't apologize DDawg - I like GWB I just think he has allowed himself to be misled by the more "seasoned" politicians. Immigration, education, weak actions in the war, and now global warming.
