A Dawg's eye view

Looks like he's at it again. Copying and pasting something written by someone else in order to make himself feel good about his position against homosexuals. And of course he is blocking comments so only those that agree with him can get through. Even I am not this obsessed with getting my point across.

What kind of an ego stroke does he actually get from this? What kind of affermation other than having like-minded people say like-minded things? What kind of a man can't handle an oppossing opinion? Why on earth is he so OBSESSED with this?

I'd like to know what you think, I will reserve my comments for later.

Feel free to leave your comments for him here since he will doubtfully let them on his.

Lost buddy, feel free to say whatever you want, I am happy to allow your opinion on my blog, esepecially since this relates to you directly.

i think that cherry picking the Bible to support ones bigotry is the real sin here. why is lost_guy overlooking sanctions on slavery, stoning of prostitutes, and killing people who eat shellfish? because he obviously has sexual identity issues otherwise he would not be so obsessed with it. my non-gay male friends are secure with their sexuality therefore are indifferent to mine. the one the cackles the loudest usually laid the man - uh - i mean egg! LOL

"Cherrypicking". Good way of putting it.

But, the comment "Apparantly that's why a couple of bloggers here didn't care to hear the religious aspect of their lifestyle. Truth is hate to those who hate the Truth", really gave me a kick.

Why does it mean that we hate the truth because we don't go around nit picking on peoples lives?

I am more than sure, that we, as "straight" people, all do something that others are not in agreement with. Openly and publicly at times.

Not one of us can say that that we live by the bible from front to back. NO ONE.

Alot of these people do not blame anyone for their way of living. Live and let live. Stop revolving your life around others lives and how CHOOSE to live it.
They CHOOSE to live as gays/lesbians as you CHOOSE to go around bad mouthing them and bashing them.

The bible talks about loving eachother equally as well...but, you know we DON'T do that.

Look at all the awful comments that go on from theses same people preaching from the bible about the "illegals" and other other things. Why do we pick and choose what we want to bash as being against the bible and what we will praise?

Boy, I know I will "feel the wrath" for the last comment, but, Oh well.

I can take it. =0)

this comment I find most interesting:

"It's interesting how some saying they understand the Bible & are believers, yet deny what is clearly there. Sodom & Gomorrah were examples of God's disgust & judgment against homosexual life style.
San Francisco would burst into flame as any moment."

What is clear is that this person does not know the bible as much as she says she does. Soddom & Gommorah were not destroyed for homosexuality, in fact its the Quran version of the same story that first uses homosexuality, could it be she is a closet Muslim? And note the hateful language "San Francisco would burst into flame as any moment". What a very "christian" thing to say.

It's pretty sad if you ask me, that these people hide their bigotry by using God and the bible to justify it. Guess they have run out of people they can hate publicly, the only ones left are homosexuals and illegal immigrants.

And this comment:

"My brother is gay, and it breaks my heart and disgusts me at the same time"

Says it all- no hatred or bigotry there (sarc), and her own brother at that, sad sad sad.

Another one with no clue, thinks a homosexual chooses to be that way. How convenient for her to believe that, so she can hang on to her "disgust".

IMO...what does it matter who chooses to be what or for what reasons. I don't think that it should affect your/his/her life because you/he/she is not the one living it.

Once again......live and let live.

randythib - the things you mentioned were 'cherrypicked' by you from the old testament, before the forgiveness of Christ.

DDawg - Just to beat the dead horse:

I have a close family member that is gay and after seeing the disappointment from his parents even 20 years after he came out is heartbreaking. His parents are the most caring people in the world and all they wanted was to see their son share in the same happiness of having a normal family. They accept him for who he is and talk so highly of his career and how nice his "friend" is but you can tell that they feel that they failed him as parents somehow - even though their other child has a spouse and kids and is BEGGING for grandchildren.

We had to explain to my grandmother in 1993 what a homosexual was. This was terribly embarrassing - you should have seen the look on her face after she'd been talking about how nice it was that his friend stayed at his house when he left town and took care of his dogs.

Maybe that is what the person meant about their brother being gay and breaking their heart. Try telling people who devoted their lives to raising a family as was commanded by the Lord that being a homosexual is just as much of a blessing and as "normal" as what they have done.

Maybe that is what makes family people upset. Maybe everyone who believes that homosexuality is a sin isn't harboring homosexual or bigoted feelings.

Hey Dawg- I have been away for a while but I have a pretty good idea who you are referring too.....You may enjoy this bumper sticker I saw:

Well Dawg, the only way I interpret the right wing conservative ultra religious narrow minded closed minded peoples' supposed condemnation of homosexuality is that they are simply bored with their daily conundrums in life. Hey, look around you and take a look at what's happening: global warming. This is serious business folks because this is already altering our lives for the long haul, and it si not pretty at all. I say this is more expedient than poking at the lives of gays.

What business do people have in labeling and judging other people in the first place? Do we actually know each other personally that you can tell me whether I am going to hell or not? Leave the bible alone because that book is subject to everybody's interpretation. Like I said, if you are NOT a bible scholar, ZIP IT.

TexanInfidel read my blog view my photos
Jul 1, 2008 | 10:20 PM

So what if someone IS a Bible scholar? Then can we speak? What qualifies you to designate said Bible scholars? Has anyone said they have the authority to judge who's going to heaven and hell? Because Christians are SOOOO not called to do that. We are called to discern right from wrong in the effort to help people.

What does global warming (a new religion) have to do with homosexuality?

texcitizen read my blog

What I mean is that instead of getting into an issue that you cannot change anyway -- meaning, no matter how much you and the rest harp about homosexuality, I do not think God has given the self righteous people in this blog group the power to change things. Not even to enlighten. Not even to inform. Not even to encourage. So instead, if all of the human beings in this planet, gay and straight, put their heads together to reverse this man-made planetary destruction, we might be able to say save something for future generations.

Bible scholar. How much of the bible have you really and actually studied and understood that you can quote it to condemn homosexuals? The bible is a book of parables that stretches its meaning and interpretation. Do you even understand how the bible was formed, by whom, and how it was put together? God did not create that book and throw it down from above. MAN created the bible. Sure, you say God/Jesus inspired it, but did not dictate it. but nonetheless it was man who wrote it.

Discern right from wrong? My goodness. On whose definition of right and wrong? YOURS? You must be kidding.

texan...look up the word EXPEDIENT in the dictionary and you will see the connection and context of what I tried to discuss earlier.

A person's range of vocabulary shows a person's range of thinking.

University taught me this.

TexanInfidel read my blog view my photos

OH so you went to University. That means you are smart. You may worship global warming (a junk science by the way) if you wish but it has been expediently disproved by many a study. You may ignore those studies and cry for the polar bears and chain yourself to oilwells to stop the Great Satan, but I prefer centuries of study that show it to be a cyclical event. In fact, I prefer the studies that show that the methane gas released by cattle pollutes more than all the cars on earth.

I went to "University" as well. I went to a Christian university. At this university we were required to take many Bible classes and attend chapel multiple times per week. I know the Bible and if I don't know something I will gladly study it. You scoffers may continue to scoff as long as you wish, but that will never change my belief that the Bible was divinely inspired by God. If you go back to the ancient languages it was written in you may get a better interpretation but that would be asking a lot.

And I disagree with your vocabulary comment. Many people who lack the rational thinking of a tack use giant words to make themselves appear superior. Not that "expedient" is a particularly large word, I just skimmed over that sentence.

I am not attempting to change homosexuals. I am presenting the other side of the story. I have yet to find a rational explanation of why declared homosexuals claim to be Christian yet ignore whole concepts found in the Bible, which is a large part of Christianity.

So you may use the blogs to "enlighten" and "inform" and "encourage" and try to

"I am not attempting to change homosexuals. I am presenting the other side of the story. I have yet to find a rational explanation of why declared homosexuals claim to be Christian yet ignore whole concepts found in the Bible, which is a large part of Christianity."

The other side of what story? You act as if homosexuals are somehow in opposition to Christianity. What a bold and elitist stand that is. No "rational" explanation? Here is one, I LOVE JESUS, I believe He came here to die for ME, I believe in God and I believe He created me just as I am. The "whole" concepts you are referring to are YOUR interpretation of what it says. You condemn with your every word, yet you fail to realize you don't know what sins any homosexual is guilty of.

Keep trying to justify your contempt for homosexuals. Your arguments are weak and pathetic.

Jul 2, 2008 | 9:37 AM

Nice. My arguments are weak and pathetic but yours are strong and valid I'm sure.

You act as if there is no other side of the story. I will at least admit that you loving Jesus, believing that he came here to die for you and that God created you just as you are is completely accurate.

I have said repeatedly what is sinful about homosexuality but you come back with something like "who said that just because you are homosexual means you have lusted for the same sex" or "who says that just because you are homosexual that you have had sexual relations with the same sex." I mean how can you claim to be homosexual without desiring the same sex sexually or acting on it? All I get is the weak pork and shellfish arguments.

DDawg read my blog view my photos
Jul 2, 2008 | 9:50 AM

Well TI your arguments are weak because they are casting a broad stroke, painting everyone that is a homosexual in the same narrow way. There is a word for that, it is called prejudice. No matter how many bible versus you quote to justify your judgment, you are still pre-judging people that you do not know. That is where judgment is wrong. You can't assume that because a person identifies as a homosexual that he/she commits homosexual sin. "How can you be homosexual without desiring the same sex or sexually acting on it?" Simple, you are a heterosexual right? Are you sexually acting on your attraction to men? Is it any of my business if you are? Is any of this getting through to you? Are you so hell bent on displaying your righteousness that you ignore any opinion that seems to be in opposition to yours about a subject you have little knowledge of?

I am not trying to change you, I am just trying to get you to see the people behind the facade you have painted with your prejudices. One can be a Christian and be a homosexual. Just because you don't think so, doesn't mean He don't think so.

Alright DDawg I have yet to see how I am painting homosexuals with a broad stroke. Do you mean to tell me that there are homosexuals that don't engage in homosexual sex? And I'm not claiming to be perfect or whatever, but you don't have to be perfect to call a duck a duck otherwise no one could discern good from bad.

I have had many friends who are homosexual - all of the women had some traumatic event as a young person that led to a complete disgust/distrust of men. The men I don't understand because I'm not a man but they all thought they were more beautiful than women (admittedly, mind you). So when I paint with broad strokes it is due to consistent life experience, not some hell bent condemnation train.
