A Dawg's eye view

It's easy to point out what you think is wrong with Obama when you are looking for something, look hard enough and you will find something you can use against him. The same can be said of McCain, or for that matter any of us.

Regarless of how you feel about Obama, and whether or not you think he will be a good president, he has already brought change to our great country. Change that will make it a better place to live for ALL of it's citizens, not just the white, not just the rich, not just the men.

Admittedly not all change is good, but the kind of change we are currently experiencing IS good. Do you think Marting Luther King Jr. could have forseen that 45 years after he gave that speech, that a person of African descent would be accepting the Democratic nomination for the President of the United States? He had a dream, and that dream is coming true. Even if Obama does not win the presidency, the face of American politics has changed forever.

And let's not forget about the contribution of Hillary Clinton. No matter how you might feel about her personally, if you are a woman you have to give her thanks for paving the way for a female to be President of the United States, how awesome is that? She truly did crack the glass ceiling, and in a not too distant future it WILL be completely shattered.

All the arguing aside, you can't deny that history has been made. The old way of doing things is on it's way out. "We the People" will actually start to mean something. Every voice will be heard.

I can't wait to cast my vote in November. I will be able to tell my children and grandchildren about how I was part of this history-making election. America is the most wonderful place to live, and it just keeps getting better.

God Bless America, and God Bless Barack Hussein Obama our next President!

Dream on buddy. BHO will pop and Biden will open his mouth and insert his foot. Which will be quite a feat seen as how his head is already up and locked.

God Bless America, and God Bless John Sydney McCain our next President!

The point of this post wasn't really to say who is the better candidate, but to point out that the game has changed, and it has.

We will see however who is going to win. I already have a dinner bet with Scotty that my candidate will win in November and I can smell that lobster steamin' now!!! :)

Ddawg,

Even though I won't be voting for Obama, I will have to agree with you. This is a historic election. My first thought when all this started was, "this is the worst crop of candidates we've ever seen". Over the past couple of months I've seen (on both sides) the glimmer of hope. It is refreshing. BTW. I did see Obama's speech last night and he did an Awesome job!

I told myself that I wasn't going to watch it but I thought, "HMM, you know what...it will be interesting to hear what he has to say". I can honestly say that I do believe that he honestly wants to change some things but I just don't have faith that he Can...

All in all though, I do agree with the fact that this is a milestone for the American people.

Man oh man you are some unhappy people! S**ks to be you! Except you bink, and maybe Scotty. The rest of y'all or some pretty miserable people.

I will pray God lets some joy into your lives. Smile, be happy, enjoy life. You only here for a short time, try to spend it on a positive note rather than waste it being angry and resentful.

Peace out people, have a good weekend!

I'll tell you like I told CyrusMartin, I cannot for the life of me figure out how a Christian can feel good and vote for the most proabortion candidate even to run for President.
There is no way a Christian can vote for that.
I question you both as to your Christian creds.

Dawg, great post!
You are correct...history will be and has been made regardless of who you are voting for.
USA is the greatest country in the world. I am so thankful I was born here! I have been proud to be an American my whole entire life!
We have such a great country, that we can come online and speak our minds. So many places cannot do that...

Native TX,
I think many of the Christians that are voting for Obama are doing it ..because they are racially motivated. I honestly believe that is the first thing they are seeing. They are putting aside the religion. I blogged once before about people voting based on race only. Of course no one would admit to it...but I have hard core Christian friends that are black and they are for Obama...so then I question their faith. They are blinded...like the false Messiah...drinking from the poisoned kool-aid.

As hisstoric as it is, I wonder why Obama does give props to the men and women of color that forged the ground that led him to where he is.

The one and only thing good that I can see happening IF Obama wins, is that finally, blkack people will have no more reason to throw the race card.

CD - I can't argue with that at all.

Scotty - yes they will - no doubt about it

Wow, I had a lot of typos!

That should have read: "doesn't give props..."

Complaining and being victims are some of the national pastimes of Blacks.

Sounds racist doesn't it. I'll stand behind it until something changes.

I was just commenting on the last sentence in your blog. As for the rest you are just stating the obvious which I kind somewhat tedious.

DDawg, my free steak and baked potato from you is sounding sweeter by the minute. The election is the 4th. Shall we say, Texas Land and Cattle on Friday the 7th?

Spoken like a true Baptist- if it don't fit into your little box it aint right! Bah!

Besides I question the intelligence of anyone who would not see the abortion issue for what it is- a polarizing issue meant to distract the right wing conservatives and keep them at odds with the left. No president, not Obama, not McCain is going to overthrow Roe v. Wade. If you think they will your an idiot. By the way, since your against abortion, how much money or time have you donated to helping the unborn children? You know, by giving alternatives to abortion to those who seek to use it as a form of birth control. What has your church done, or what is it doing to help solve the problem? You repubs like to shout how dems want big government, yet you are relying on the government to end abortion when you know that is not the answer. Even if it ever became illegal it would still happen, just illegally or in Canada or Mexico. Solving the problem and saving those lives has nothing to do with our government, it has to do with US.

Wow, spoken like a true entitlement junkie. In my wife's native tongue we would say, "Bili moko nyan, bili mo kn nun". That's Tagolg for, "Give me this and give me that."

Work and take responsibility! You get nothing!!!
