I recently moved to  Texas,  We drive a Toyota Corrola, while in the other state, this car got 40 to 42 mpg, since coming here, it never gets over 35mpg,  I think it's from the use of ethanol, , that seems to be  the only difference in the fuels, so is ethanol, really of any benefit ?  the availability of ethanol added fuel  was very limited there., 7mpg, converts to a 16% loss in fuel mileage .so far out of the "Green movement", the only thing I've seen is My green being moved to someone else's hands, I consider the green movement about as authentic as global warming ., which I don't believe in either .

"I consider the green movement about as authentic as global warming .," and you're correct.

It is that stupid, inadequate, ethanol, no doubt. It isn't a good fuel (fact) and it burns faster than gasoline (no surprise). Corn IS NOT fuel for cars, it's fuel for ppl, as any nitwit should be able to understand (obviously, they don't). But it was forced on us by liberal thinkers... nuff said.

Welcome to Texas, btw. :)) You'll seen it's a hot a hell here in spring, summer and most of the fall. lol

Wasn't ethanol Willy Nelsons idea? Convinced everyone that was the way to go. He even had the first gas station selling it.

I bet that is all he sells when his truck stop by Waco is finished being remodeled.

in every instance of people conserving, we've been rewarded with higher prices , what is this, we conserve, but save no money , I don't get it, you would think we would at least see some gain out of conservation, but I guess someone has the idea we should only conserve the product, but not our cash !!

Because the (liberal) government ppl don't care about us saving money and it's NOT about us saving $$$. It's all about government entities controlling our lives.
Conserving doesn't SAVE anything... it's a means libs use to force their political agenda on the world, i.e. global warming hoax; corn for fuel foolishness; saving animals BS... all about marxism. Making the great USA, not so great any longer.
Price of gas won't go down, until we DRILL for oil and produce what we need... or the world sees that we're serious about it. That happens, and prices will fall.

Just for the record,Nelson has nothing to do with ethanol. He makes biodiesel, mostly from cottonseed. No corn is used. Biodiesel gets virtually the same mileage and performance as regular diesel. It's biggest drawback is you have to run 75 per cent real diesel in winter or it will freeze. I have noticed a drop in mileage in my Buick, but my Mazda seems to get slightly better mileage.

actually if diesel isn't winterized, it will freeze also, unless ya use a little stove oil in it,

I have a 1991 Mazda 92S(fancy 929) with the big six and four speed o/d auto. Diesel will not freeze, but without the additives it will gel at low temps, about ten degrees, but pure bio will freeze like water and so far we have no additive for it.

We should all understand the facts regarding high gas prices too.... HALF OF IT IS TAXES.
The 'government' uses any means it can to take our money for our own good, of course. As for Willie and the cottonseed or John Doe and the corn....WE THE PEOPLE are paying for that too! With the recent floods in the midwest, corn will skyrocket and so will FOOD prices. We need to drill for OIL and let the cows eat the corn!

I think so, too, Willie

It gets about 28 on the highway with or without the air on. I used to have a 93 Buick Century V6 4speed o/d that got 34. While I am here for the last time tonight, let put this to all. I will bet that the committee in DC that decided ethanol was the way to go had a high representation from the corn belt on it. Anyone with half a brain would have left gasoline alone and promoted bio-diesel. No changes have to be made to the rig to run 100%,just put it in the tank( just carry extra fuel filters for a while because it will clean out the tanks). Millions of gallaons of bio can be made with the cottonseed that is burned every year. You can make bio from other sources also including garbage, corn stalks, soybeans, and even one type of sweet sudan grass. Corn based ethanol only helps the corn farmer and hurts us all in increased food costs, oh,and the politicians.
