Dan’s Weather Dialogue

Here's the latest...Severe T-Storm Watch still in effect for the northern half of North Texas until 4am. As expected, a line of strong to severe t-storms continues to develop and currently stretches from Jacksboro east-northeast to Sanger and then to Sherman. This "squall line" will continue to sag south through North Texas overnight bringing torrential downpours, frequent lightning, large hail (up to golf ball size) and damaging winds (in excess of 60 mph). While an isolated tornado or two can not be ruled out, the tornado threat appears to be very low. This line of storms may intensify a bit as it moves into the Metroplex as an upper level disturbance approaches from the west. The storms should move through the DFW area between 2am and 4am, and then impact areas south of the DFW area between 4 and 8am. Cooler, drier weather will be the rule by Friday afternoon.

1:38 am was when the storm hit Denton UNT campus area. Hail was so loud that it sounded thunderous on it's own! Rain mixed in after that, with high winds and multiple flashes that seemed continuous. Thunder was also quite loud, and when I looked outside I couldn't see beyond my porch. A very angry storm, but it didn't last long and now has moved on...
