I recenlty read this quote - "Charity sees the need, not the cause." I wasn't quite sure how to interpret it?
Does this mean "Charity ONLY sees the need, and not the cause?"
or does it mean "Charity SHOULD ONLY see the need, and not the cause?"
The cause are things we all probably don't want to admit up to, drug addiction, bad personal decisions, laziness, poor education. Or sometimes the causes are the things out of our control - natural disasters, health issues, or even death of a loved one that can quickly swing us into a need of charity.
My question is - How should we read this quote? Is one way better than the other?
