PEOPLE TAKE OFFENCE TO EVERYTHING. IF THAT BAR OWNER WANT TO PUT HIS SIGN THAT HAS THE N WORD IN IT THERE SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. I HEAR PEOPLE MAINLY AFRICAN AMERICAN SAY THE WORD 20,000 TIMES A DAY. ME PERSONALY I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT IM AFRICAN AMERICAN MYSELF. I HAVE BEEN CALLED THE N WORD NUMEROUS OF TIMES AND SERVAL OCCASIONS. THAT DOES NOT BOTHER ME. SOON AS SOMEBODY PUTS IT ON A SIGN ITS A PROBLEM. COME ON NOW ITS TIME TO GET REAL.

Some people are not as strong minded as you, Det.

Some have not learned not to listen to the ignorant who do use the word.

I understand that you say that you are black and that it does not bother you, which is good, but, in my opinion, it should not be used.

We have come a long way from when that word was put on signs and there is no need for it now.

Bless you for being such a strong woman.

The man putting in on the sign, was black himself and I assume he wasn't offended and had his reasons?
I would think it better to chose not to use some 'particular' words, but that particular word always seem rampart throughout the hip-hop community as well as else where in the black community.
It only seems to be a problem when, when some hear it from whites, is it not? Rather confusing. Many words are 'offensive' but they also reveal a lot about a person.. good & bad. I don't like the words 'whitey' & 'cracker'. I hear it a lot from black youth. It tells me a lot about them.

Oh yeah, and the term "gringo" is insulting and demeaning, as it's meant to be.
But we can't & do not want to make laws against free speech. They've already done that in Cuba, Syria, Iran, China.... and many other places. Just not GOOD.

I'm thinking that a lot of people do not even know what it means anymore. the other day my son was called the n word by another young boy. my son is white and the boy doing the name calling was black.

That happens alot, TM.

My son has been called that as well. By the same.

We know what the word means........maybe someone should teach them.

Only ignorant people are offended by this word. Growning up my mother told me the n word was a belittling term for a member of ANY socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people. Some choose to live the n word type of life by not attempting to better themselves and deserve to be called the n word- but who am I to judge. I choose not to use it out of respect for fellow Americans and human beings. Not because its offensive to blacks, but because its offensive to everyone!!!
Detrice, we are a strong people- wish there were more like us. People that can think for themselves and want more than what is handed to them.

I'm a big fan of calling my friends "honkies", myself. But I wouldn't put it up on a sign for the world to see.

I think having the N word on a sign is in poor taste. There are too many people that are offended by it.
