I happen to run across an article on the TexasISD website (http://www.texasisd.com/) this morning. As stated on that page:
Quote: "
Most struggling Texas kids are veterans of U.S. classrooms
Educators
often point out the obstacles new immigrants face in graduating on
time. But they aren't the only kids learning English who are struggling
to graduate. Statewide, about 60 percent of high school students
classified as having limited English proficiency – called LEP in
education circles – have been in U.S. schools five years or more,
according to a Dallas Morning News analysis of state test
data. Most were born in the United States, often to immigrant parents,
or immigrated at an earlier age. While some do well in school, others
struggle for years. [ View Article ]

Then it has the link leading to the Dallas Morning News article containing more information on the topic.
Quoted from Athens Daily Review:

Randall Wayne Mays on Tuesday was sentenced to die for the May
17, 2007, fatal shooting of Henderson County Sheriff's Deputy Tony
Ogburn."

I was just curious as to why Fox4 isn't covering the trial against Randall Wayne Mays; the man who killed the two law enforcement officers May 17, 2007.
Quote from Athens Daily Review:
"Mays was indicted last June for the May 17, 2007, shooting of
Henderson County Sheriff’s Investigator Paul Habelt, 63, and Deputy
Tony Ogburn, 61. Habelt and Ogburn were shot and killed while
responding to a domestic disturbance at a Payne Springs residence.
A
third deputy, Kevin Harris was also shot in the leg during the
incident. He has been present at many of the pre-trial hearings."If I recall correctly the shootout in Payne Springs was big enough news that Fox4 made an appearance; yet no mention of his trial? Why is that?
I realize that Cedar Creek Lake is not "dead center" of your viewing center; it is a bit to the south-east of Dallas. But why is it that the shooting was important enough to cover, but yet Fox4 can't even mention the trial?? Why? Has everyone forgotten the fallen men already?
(I apologize beforehand if I have somehow missed where Fox4 has mentioned the trial.)
For anyone who is perhaps interested, here are some of the write-ups done in the Athens Daily Review:

As I already posted in the Weather blogs...
Hope all in the area around Canton/Athens and the areas east of that stay safe during the storm and tornado.
One of my boys had called telling me the emergency sirens had sounded and the school is now on lock-down. I checked the news and at first found nothing. Then about 10 minutes later it was reported that a tornado touched down in the Canton area. Luckily for my boys they shouldn't be effected as the news said the tornado is heading east of Canton.
Stay safe everyone.
