10% ETHANOL: I have seen better mileage in my own vehicles by using Phillips 66 gas, or an equivalent, which has 10% Ethanol added to it. I've averaged about 15% more per tank. I don't understand why that is, but who am I to argue?
SPEED CHANGES: I've also noticed that since gas prices went over $3.50 per gallon, and I've decided to ALWAYS go 5 MPH slower, I get approx 50 MPG more per tank. Has anyone ever considered reinstating the 55 MPH thing we had going earlier in our history? Instead of "55 Saves Lives," we could say "55 Saves Gas!" I could be called a fuddyduddy, but since I like getting places as quickly as the next person, I don't think so. I think maybe It could be called common sense?
MAGNETS: Whether or not they work on humans, they seem to work pretty well in cars. A friend of mine has been using magnetic fuel line clips on his 2006 Dodge Charger for over a year and gets an extra 50 to 75 miles per tank. I recently had him install 3 of them on my 2006 Dodge Caravan. I've only filled up once since then, so I'll have to let you know how much I save. The longer they are on, the more effective they become. They work by coagulating solid particles in the fuel together before they reach the engine. Since the engine doesn't have to do that work anymore, it runs more efficiently on less fuel. The particles are safely delivered to the fuel filter, instead of repeatedly cycling thru the engine. FUN STUFF! Anyone else have any experience with these amazing things?
