Yep - that's exactly what my Doctor told me today about my Baby Girl!! But apparently that's a good thing! Our baby now weighs 7 lbs 11 oz - that means that she is on track to weigh more than 9 pounds when she is born! My Dr. said that the Baby is healthy and beautiful and that everything looks great. She's just built a liittle more like Jeff right now, than like me!  :)

We had a first yesterday. She got the hiccups - twice! It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on. At first I thought she just had great timing - and was kicking every 30 seconds. Then I figured out - hiccups! That was in the afternoon at work - and I was disappoitned Jeff wasn't around to enjoy the moment. But the Baby got the hiccups again about midnight last night - and Jeff got to see how cute it is!!

That's the latest on the Baby. She will be here in about 4 weeks. I am going to go on Maternity Leave soon - but I promise to keep in touch! Thanks again for all your supportive emails!

I am glad for you, your baby & family that all is going great:).....but i do have a question...doesn't knowing all this ahead of time kinda take the excitement away a little...

Um... good question... but I don't think so. I go to the Dr. so much because I am 40 years old - and there is a health question for me and the baby. Once a woman is 40 - she is in the "high risk" category. So while most women see the baby only 2 or 3 times the entire pregnancy (and they therefore have no idea about weight, facial features, thigh size, etc), but I see mine every week. The Dr.'s just want to make sure we are both doing well.

As for Jeff & I - we think we are Blessed to get to know our little girl sooner. We have already seen her open her eyes and wave her arms and legs around - and it is amazing! Of course, will still be a lot of excitement the day she is born. Right now - it's more about relief that we are both healthy.

Exciting, Heather!

Are you getting those high-tech sonograms where you can see all of the features and whatnot?

Yes! We had the 4D done about 4 weeks ago and the photos are incredible. She already looks like Jeff. You can check out the photos in "My Photos" - it's such an AMAZING thing to see her!!

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to know what we were having, as my wife did back in 1999.

Funny story...Please dont take the wrong way...

When we had our sonogram to find out, the doctor was navigating as usual.

He then circled an area and asked, "do you see that thing that looks like a hot dog bun?"

"that's your daughter!!!"

Oh my, my wife and I belted out laughing and then of course we started crying.

We waited 8 years for our princess to come along.

She is now 7.

Parenthood is great!!!

Best to you...

Yes, I got to hold my Vanna first as my wife was being tend to.

My first words to her were of course, "I love you".

I even got pulled over in Plano on my way home.

Luckily, I was wearing my scrub shirt the hospital gave me with her foot prints on it. I got a warning and it is in her baby book.

Thanks for bringing me those memories again...

I feel so humble now...

You brought tears to my eyes!! That is so sentimental that you kept your "Warning." We live about 35 minutes from the hospital so we might get one on the way there!

Good to hear they put the baby's footprints on your scrubs. Someone else told me to do that - but I wasn't sure if I could or not. Looks like I will go get Jeff some scrubs!!

Hi Rod75147 - It did happen quick didn't it!! :)
We got married in January - and we knew we were expecting a little one. We have been together 3 years now - and Jeff proposed last June - we got pregnant almost 4 weeks to the day after that proposal. Jeff says God just wanted us to make a commitment! By the time we found out about the baby - we had already planned to marry January 6th - so we stayed with that plan.

We truly weren't sure if we could get pregnant on our own - so we feel incredibly Blessed. As for maternity leave - I am not sure on that one. Probably about 6 weeks. Which I am sure will fly by!!

I will miss everyone, too!! :)

I know I am more emotional now (I cry at everything anyway!!) but all I have to do is read your posts and I get teary!! Thank you for being so supportive - and a HUGE thank you to Alexis - who sent the most thoughtful books and a teddy bear to the station! The baby will love them!

MrsVick - Jeff will absolutely be in the room when the baby is born - and he will cut the cord. We have been going to Lamaze and getting as prepared as we can!!

Pacemaker - Thank you for your kind words. My mom will be at the hospital (this is the first grandbaby for my parents!) - but I am not sure if she will be in the room. I think Jeff and I want it to be just us. But who knows - I could want my mom there!! :)

Knowing those things ahead of time doesn't in any way take the surprise or thrill out of it. I found knowing those things added to the thrill & also you get incredible peace of mind. When I saw the 7 lbs 11 oz, I thought, lucky you, that's a piece of cake to give birth to, but then I saw the 9 lb thing! My oldest was 8 lbs 11 oz & it really wasn't that bad. What was so very cute, Heather, & it's still etched in my mind more than 16 years later was how she looked at me with just 1 eye when they laid her next to me to take us to our room. It was like she knew who I was & was trying to memorize her mommy. Now, that wonderful little baby is 16, is spending spring break in College Station with friends, just dyed her hair black, & wants to be a meteorologist!

9lbs isn't hard to push out, took me all of 3 pushes! But I'd had an 8+ponder 2 years prior.

Congrats Heather on your girl. I have to admit I prefer raising boys having now had one of each...but the girls are easier for the first time...they can't shoot you in the eye (as easily, they still can tho!) when you're new to changing diapers!

Changing baby's outfit every couple of hours gives her the exercise she otherwise wouldn't get.

I anchor the 6 and 9 p.m. news – along with my dear friend and "work husband" Steve Eagar. Together we have won Edward R. Murrow, AP, and Katie Awards (Thanks for carrying me, Steve!). And I won an Emmy for Best Anchor. But now I have a new role - Mommy! Jeff and I have two little girls - Emmy (Jeff said I have an Emmy - so he wants one, too!) and Lily Rae. The girls are 14 months apart so we definitely have our hands full! But it's wonderful!! I also want to tell you about my volunteer work - speaking to groups about suicide awareness. I lost my former fiance’ to suicide and recently published a book called "Surviving Suicide." You can find out more about that at www.heatherhays.com. Playtime is spent with the cutest chocolate lab ever, Rosco, and my amazing husband, Jeff - and of course, Emmy and Lily Rae. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
