I can't believe my maternity leave is almost over - and that Emmy is 51 days old (Yes, I still count in days!!). I will be back behind the anchor desk on Tuesday (June 5th). There is lots to do before Tuesday, though - like find clothes that fit! I gained 65 pounds during my pregnancy and have only lost 30 - so I can say, "I have nothing to wear" - and this time it's true!!

Emmy weighs more than 14 pounds now - and is being baptized this weekend - I will post pics of her baptismal gown - it's beautiful!! (check out the other pics I posted of her!!). And then Monday is "shot day" for the baby. I am NOT looking forward to that. I am sure I will cry more than she will! UGH Wish us luck and I will see you Tuesday at 6 and 9!

Hey Thanks! It will be great to be back - but I just hope I don't have too much "separation anxiety" from the baby!! As for Cowboy Season - I am SO ready to beat Doocy this season. He needs to go down!! :)

Hey Heather. I thought of you this morning when I found this site. Very interesting study on brain architecture and what not. It's fun to read this stuff while you are watching your infant develop.

I love the pictures. Thanks for sharing them. You be glowingly beautiful!!

Heather...Will be looking forward to seeing you anchor the news again. Yes, you probably will have separation anxiety, but it will pass. It helps to have a scheduled time with the baby each day even if it's just a few minutes for just you and her. She is precious - I know you must be proud of her.

Welcome back! You have been missed. The shot process can be overwhelming for mom's but if you keep in mind it's the best thing for her, you'll be alright. It's when they get older and understand the whole "shot process" better that it becomes harder to take as a parent.

I also wanted to say that Emmy is beautiful! My baby is 14 going on 40. Our twins graduate high school next week. (whoa!) I'm not having any more babies and none of my friends are expecting, planning to expect... nor do they have babies that I can ga'ga over. I have really enjoyed you sharing these special times with us. I look forward to watching Emmy grow and learn. :)

Hi Heather....it's 9 O'Clock. (Actually, it's 9:26, but I couldn't resist reciting Steve's opening line of the broadcast.)

You are going to be a great Mom....and you
are going to "Take Back The Tiara" for Emmy! :) There are 93 days remaining before the start of the regular season (September 6) - Emmy will be 149 days old then.

I anchor the 6 and 9 p.m. news – along with my dear friend and "work husband" Steve Eagar. Together we have won Edward R. Murrow, AP, and Katie Awards (Thanks for carrying me, Steve!). And I won an Emmy for Best Anchor. But now I have a new role - Mommy! Jeff and I have two little girls - Emmy (Jeff said I have an Emmy - so he wants one, too!) and Lily Rae. The girls are 14 months apart so we definitely have our hands full! But it's wonderful!! I also want to tell you about my volunteer work - speaking to groups about suicide awareness. I lost my former fiance’ to suicide and recently published a book called "Surviving Suicide." You can find out more about that at www.heatherhays.com. Playtime is spent with the cutest chocolate lab ever, Rosco, and my amazing husband, Jeff - and of course, Emmy and Lily Rae. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
