I think it's great that Emmy will be a big sister, but even better that you've been able to focus on family life while still maintaining a high-profile career.

I've wondered how life would be with kids and a 3 to 11 p.m. work schedule. Would I be that mom who's never home? Would there ever be time for mom, dad and baby together? Would the kids miss something important growing up in mom's big city rather than in the little town where grandma, grandpa, tante, parrain and all the cousins are?

It's awesome that you've been able to make it work.

Just be careful, women's body takes a toll when they start producing baby after baby. It takes about 3 years for a women's body to fully recover after a baby. But, I understand the fact that your clock ticked and passed you, hurry up and catch up. Good Luck to you!
This from Dr. Gurkha!

Thanks everybody for your kind posts!! And "Dr. Gurkha" - my clock was ticking LOUDLY - no time to waste!! :)

Mrs. Vick - Cecily (Jeff's daughter) is SO excited about the new baby. She said she always wanted a big family - so now she will have two siblings!! She thinks it's a girl - we'll find out Jan. 28th.

Tracy - you ask some grest questions... and I don't know if anyone really has it figured out. We just try to fill our house with love - and if Mom has to work holidays or nights - then that's just what the family deals with. If Dad goes out of town - that, too, is something we all have to balance. I really think each family finds their own way - one way or another! It's that path that makes each family special and unique!!

I anchor the 6 and 9 p.m. news – along with my dear friend and "work husband" Steve Eagar. Together we have won Edward R. Murrow, AP, and Katie Awards (Thanks for carrying me, Steve!). And I won an Emmy for Best Anchor. But now I have a new role - Mommy! Jeff and I have two little girls - Emmy (Jeff said I have an Emmy - so he wants one, too!) and Lily Rae. The girls are 14 months apart so we definitely have our hands full! But it's wonderful!! I also want to tell you about my volunteer work - speaking to groups about suicide awareness. I lost my former fiance’ to suicide and recently published a book called "Surviving Suicide." You can find out more about that at www.heatherhays.com. Playtime is spent with the cutest chocolate lab ever, Rosco, and my amazing husband, Jeff - and of course, Emmy and Lily Rae. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
