Dick Raasch, Twanda Twine, Forrest Green… all names of people I have met. And, yes, Dick Raasch really is a man I knew in Hawaii – a great guy by the way!! We’ve all heard an odd name and thought, “What were their parents thinking?” (or in Dick’s case wonder why he didn’t go by Richard!). But - we don’t say anything. Until now!

There’s a new book out called “Bad Baby Names” filled with thousands of colorful names given to real people by their parents – names like Tiny Hooker, Bread White, Good Dog, Monday Monday, and Fanny Large. I’d love to hear some of the names you’ve heard… and if there’s a story behind it – share that, too!!

Oh, I also remember the neighborhood sisters I knew growing up - Pearl, Opal, Ruby, and Sapphire Jones!! Thanks for sharing!!

I met someone named Danka Shae, I think that's German for "thank you." My cousin wanted to name his first daughter Brooke, not a bad name, but his last name was Creek! I met a woman who named her son Dijon, because she had a craving for dijon mustard when she was pregnant!

I heard of a woman in Houston when I was growing up named Ima Hogg. Years ago, I heard of a woman who couldn't think of what to name her new baby, so she was looking through a Montgomery Ward catalog and like the name Formica Dinette, so that's what she named her baby girl.

LOVE the names everybody - thanks!!

I remember Ima Hogg - and used to hear she had a sister named Ura... but I don't think that's true!!

As for the Aquanetta - um, that could probably be my baby's name too - that hair spray works great!! :)

I had heard of this one lady who was married to a Mr. Pena (the "n" has an "~" over it, like in spanish it sounds like "nya") and her first name was Holly... Holly Pena! I feel especially sorry for those people out there who had to grow up with the last name Butt. I feel really bad for ya'll. I know ya'll got picked on in school hard. I had met this one guy who's last name was, and if I'm lyin' I'm dyin', Peabody! He is a really sweet older guy though! There are some names that are just unpronouncable and must be said very slowly. I got picked on alot in school because I knew 3 guys who had the first name Devin/Devon. Me, being female, met one other girl out there who's name was Devon. I swear we both looked alike. We went to the same school, her birthday was the day after mine, I am a year older that her, we both looked alike physically so much, the only way people could tell the difference between us was our eye color. I have brown, she has blue. WOW!!! They say everyone has a twin out there some where. I've met mine!

I met a woman in church whose name was Ima Pickle. I swear. I had to fight not to laugh when she introduced herself. Now she had to be in her 80's so I would assume that was her married name. Don't know what her maiden name might have been but anybody who names a child Ima is really making it difficult for them.

BTW she was hard of hearing and when she introduced herself she said it REALLY loud. I was shaking her hand and couldn't speak because I was trying not to bust out laughing. And people were looking at us because she was yelling. Man that had to have been 10 years ago and I have not really thought about it since. Stll makes me laugh.

I anchor the 6 and 9 p.m. news – along with my dear friend and "work husband" Steve Eagar. Together we have won Edward R. Murrow, AP, and Katie Awards (Thanks for carrying me, Steve!). And I won an Emmy for Best Anchor. But now I have a new role - Mommy! Jeff and I have two little girls - Emmy (Jeff said I have an Emmy - so he wants one, too!) and Lily Rae. The girls are 14 months apart so we definitely have our hands full! But it's wonderful!! I also want to tell you about my volunteer work - speaking to groups about suicide awareness. I lost my former fiance’ to suicide and recently published a book called "Surviving Suicide." You can find out more about that at www.heatherhays.com. Playtime is spent with the cutest chocolate lab ever, Rosco, and my amazing husband, Jeff - and of course, Emmy and Lily Rae. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
