There is a lot of great music in Memphis; let's hope this goes better than the Seattle auditions (what a nightmare!)
Okay, what are your thoughts so far? The promos looked pretty good, with the bearded guy wailing it out...

Sundance was great. I like Simon's remark about him blowing Taylor out of the park.

Sorry, Taylor!

Talent was a better but still some that should have stayed home, but hey, it AI.

The one thing I do not understand about nearly every young singer is they feel they must do what Kelly Clarkson called trills (sp). I thought singing talent was about being able to have you own sound. When and who started all this trill business?

There were a few good ones - some that really surprised me. I could listen to Sundance all day! WHAT A COOL NAME!

And Aww! @ what the new daddy said to the camera. Was that the sweetest or WHAT?

Dolittle was also very good. I think we'll see her come out of her shell. We may not recognize her by the time this is over!

I just love those that should have stayed home, NorthTx.

I know this is early in the auditions but it's highly possible "Your Next American Idol" is from Memphis.

I think Dolittle was the best of the bunch tonight. I liked her.

I was routing for the guy who's wife had the baby. He wasn't the best singer, though. I just would have felt really bad for him if he would have missed the birth for nothing. I would never let my husband do that.

This is my first American Idol season. I'm forced to watch because there are at least 20 TVs tuned on to it around me at work. What suprises me the most about the show is how many people tear up for not making it to Hollywood. I call them weirdo's. Maybe I just don't get the whole Hollywood fame thing.

By the way... I watched Dr. Keith Ablow today while I was at the gym (there wasn't much on). He had one family on the show who is in serious debt because they are trying to get their 14-year-old acting son to Hollywood. The father works 4 jobs. The mother works 2 and is the son's transportation to auditions. The daughter can't go to college because the family is in debt and credit agencies won't give her a student loan until she turns 18. She politely said she'd go to a community college until then while her parents continue financing her brother's (hopeless) acting career.

How screwed up is that?

I always wonder if people are blinded by the fame or the money or both. I guess for some they have a dream and that is all they live for.

I think the saddest part of the show is when they people are told no and they beg to sing another song.

My wife and I nearly died laughing(I actually fell off my chair)when "Mr.Burning Love" pulled that rag or hanky out of the front of his pants. Then proceeded to pull his zipper up.Tonight's AI was more funny then Till Death.

Sounds like those pageant moms. There was a documentary out a couple of years ago about these moms with their little girls traveling from pageant to pageant, spending their paychecks on dresses, tanning sessions, etc. for their 5-7 year old daughters. Say WHAT??

Kind of makes the acting thing seem a little more sane.

I had to set my girls up in the other room to watch Idol tonight. They like to watch it but I paused Tivo when the girl with the braces and buck teeth came on to get them back watching Pink Panther in our room. I do NOT want them seeing the judges making fun of someone because of her teeth. :(

I thought Paula was funny when she kept pulling her shirt together.

ROFL! That was funny, NorthTx!

I can't imagine going into debt for something like that. It might pay off in the end. MIGHT. What are the odds!?

My hubby keeps talking about the one guy. He admittedly looked like a bum. (? hear-say) I missed that one but from what hubby says, he was good.

Do you think the judges are actually meaner this year? I don't have anything to compare them to.

They do look a little tired of the auditions. I wonder how many more seasons we'll see all three of them on the show?

I don't think they are meaner. I'll be honest & say this: *giggles* I find I'm enjoying their, um, charming ways *ahem* a lot more this season.

I've been needing this GOOD LAUGH that watching the auditions bring into my home!

It will be interesting to see how they 'clean up' the guy with the beard and hair. Remember they changed Clay Aiken's look?

NorthTx they even revamped Bo a bit.

Dallas, I haven't watched every year. The only way I know how to say what I have watched is bits and pieces. I know who Bo is, but I don't know how he looked at the first of that season.

My eyes plays tricks on me a lot. The first time I saw this guy, with his hair hanging over his shoulder and his beard cut straight across, it looked like he had cut the middle out of it. We need to look for before and after pics if he make it very far.

Well, what was funny, was that I had a remote and my wife had her's and we had a "remote" war last night, switching from AI to the Mav's game on FSN.I wish they'd get over with the audtions and move on to the good stuff already. The audtions in my opinion are a total waste of time watching.

Who is gonna be the guest judge tonight??

I have seen her, but I can't tell who it is.

Does anyone know?

The guest judge was Joan Collins.

How bout the crazy chick who called herself tone deaf but insisted she could be the next American Idol.
