As I mentioned in my last blog on this topic... cops felt confident they could make an arrest in this case. Given the public outrage it was just a matter of time someone would come forward. And many of you right here on myfoxdfw.com helped keep the heat on... in fact, it was one of the hottest topics for weeks on our website.

Sources tell me some of the Internet chatter they picked up on the case was right here on this website. They say it lead them to people who had good information.

What's interesting about this story is... it started out as "biker vs drivers" and in the end, sources tell me it was both "bikers and drivers" that helped put the case together, both equally outraged by the incident. Many bikers felt the incident gave ALL bikers a bad name. And here's an interesting side bar, one of the lead investigators on the case is a biker.

Cops say 34-year old Steven Williford of Mesquite is the shooter in the incident and he's now charged with aggravated assault.

For the sake of the responsible motorcyclists in DFW I hope they have the right man and that this will set atleast some of the public at ease. in the weeks since this story first broke i've received all sorts of negative criticism simply for riding a sport bike. I was even told i wasn't allowed to park in a parking space near the door of a restaurant I had planned to eat at one night.

I'd also like to take the chance to invite out anyone who would like to meet some responsible sport bike riders. LuckyLibby and the outspoken naysayers specifically. Libby did back track and admit she doesnt hate all bikers, but I think many of you need a reminder that we're people just like you and more often than not, we're the near victims of numerous accidents due to drivers of 4 wheeled vehicles not paying attention.

Infact, this past Thursday, I was riding my bike to meet friends for dinner and a taxi almost caused a 4 car pile up while entering a toll booth and then between Beltline and 635 nearly caused 3 other accidents with both cars and myself on my bike by irradically changing lanes and failing to signal or look before changing lanes. Remember folks, the guys on 2 wheels aren't always the bad guys.

James,I saw your story when it was first shown on Fox4 and sat in wonderment as to whether anyone would step forward and help the Police find these bikers.

Now seeing that your story here generated a lot of response from outraged people gives me hope.Thank you for doing this story. No one else could have done it better.

I hear ya Damien, I have several relatives that have bikes and its true how some people in vehicles dont pay attention to the bikers on the road. Theres good and bad in everything...bikers,truck drivers, bicyclists and even joggers sometimes.
Glad they got the shooter though.

"given the public outrage"

And yet the MSM shove politcally correct (non) reporting despite the publics outrage.

It wont surprise me if you dont know what I'm speaking of

Being a reporter for what I would consider main stream media... I can't speak for all of them but, I believe this story was factual, accurate, and responsibly reported. All the while walking through the minefields of Biker VS Driver... and the really neat thing is... in the end it took both sides to see the case come together.

Cowboys wife makes a good point there is good and bad in everything in life, we just have to embolden ourselfs to look past the bad (negative) long enough to see to the truth.
if u can handle that.

Careful there Mr. Rose, there are other bikers out there that will say your "biased" reporting is what got him turned in. The end result, you were in the wrong on your reporting and it got an innocent biker, who had a gun, put in jail.

On a side note, I want to apologize for the argument I carried on in your other two motorcycle-related blogs. Bet it filled your inbox with notices of nonsense. I had to end that BS because it was becoming a drag and I like having a good time on here. Again, I apologize.
