Obama told Iowa radio listeners last year that he is a "strong believer" in the rights of hunters and sportsmen, and that homeowners should have a firearm "to protect their home and their family." But then in the next breath, he says, "It's hard for me to find a rationale for having a 17-clip semiautomatic.

Obama supports the gun ban in the nation's capital, saying the "DC handgun law is constitutional." And he is opposed to people using guns for self-defense, when those guns are owned in localities like Washington, DC and Chicago where firearms are banned.

Illinois resident Hale DeMar was prosecuted by the town of Wilmette for using a handgun in his home to defend his family in 2003. Because Wilmette had imposed a ban on the possession of handguns, several Illinois state legislators introduced SB 2165 to protect the right of self-defense for residents like DeMar. True to form, Obama voted against the pro-gun legislation.

The concealed carry of firearms is another important issue for gun owners, and yet Obama is not only opposed to citizens carrying guns, he supports using federal laws to override those states which currently allow the practice.

In 2004, Obama said he supports a national ban on concealed carry because the states that allow it are "threatening the safety of Illinois residents." Never mind the fact that concealed carry laws have improved the safety of citizens in the states that have enacted such laws.

As the picture suggest many folks won't give up their firearm without a fight.

He attended a Church for 20 years that hates America and in particular those who 'cling to guns and religion'...........the Dems may think nominating him somehow makes them them 'cool and progressive'.........if for some reason he does not get the nomination now, after virtually saying he will, it might be a good time to invest in glass.

So sadly for this country and everyone who is a legal, voting resident, that so many have given away up many personal 'rights', to a government who wants to control their lives. Of course, 'government' wants to ban guns, that way the citizens have no way to defend themselves against aggressive government types, say like Nicaragua, Cuba, Iran, etc., etc.

Let the government TELL you when you have to wear a seatbelt, next thing they'll be telling business owners they can't allow customers to use a legal product ...and ban smoking (just as Hitler did). Watch out little froggies, the heat is very high now.

I own a hand gun. It does not have a 17shot magazine. It is held by a well trained hand that would never use it in anger, or criminal activity. If they ever come to take it away from me they better be ready. If they ever come to take it away from me that will signal the end of freedom in this country. Government should always fear its people, people should never fear their government. I would rather they pry it from my cold dead hand than live in a country whos government oppresses its people by fear, and force of arms, than leads them to a better future.

Mr Ironman, I support the rights of the citizenry to carry a firearm of their choosing.

I do desire to point out your obvious contradictory statement however.

The fact that you stated "they better be ready" implies you'd be angry at "their" coming to get it, and in addition would act "criminally" to keep "them" from taking it.

Please explain this contradiction. Thank you, sir.

I think what he means is he don't want gun control and I totally agree. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Willie the statement you made about he attended a church who hates America for 20 years is so disgusting nobody was ever quoted saying they hate america just it's views on certain things. I do not know what race you are but judging by what you wrote it is not that hard to figure out. White Presidents in the past and probably the future has belonged to churches that litterally hated blacks and other races and didn't mind telling you either.But I guess that is o.k. I am voting for the Lord because I feel he is the only one who has the gusto to be the President of the USA.

Brokenhalo, you are one of the biggest idiots I have ever encountered on this blog site. Don't you think the nazis passed laws before they started taking Jews off to the forced labor,(concentration) camps? They declared Jews as sub-human, I believe by enacting a law. They made it against the law for a Jew to marry a member of the master race. I much prefer going down fighting than being marched into a gas chamber.

They went door to door taking weapons after the Hurricane in New Orleans, the second amendment hadn't been repealed, so could this happen again?
