Our little girl is finally here! Katelyn Grace Gutierrez was born at 2:22 p.m. on July 20, 2008. She weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. It took a long 23 hours to bring her into the world... but of course it was all worth it!
Katelyn is doing very well at home. She sleeps most of the time and is very peaceful. We absolutely adore her!
Check out some of her pictures in my photos!

No... I'm not leaving for good, but July 4th is my last day at Fox 4 for a few months. I'm heading home to take care of my little girl who's expected to arrive any day now! I'm going to miss Good Day and its viewers immensely! I will definitely do my best to keep all of you updated on the birth and I'll be posting pictures soon.
A BIG thanks to those of you who have e-mailed and called with your well wishes! Thank you for your support! It means so much to me!
Until next time....

After hearing a call from a concerned viewer last week... I wanted to let you all know that there's no need to worry! In case you missed it... a viewer called in to "Tell it to Tim" and had this to say:
"She is pregnant and looks like she is about to have a baby at any day now. Now wouldn't y'all feel horrible if she had a baby right on the air there. Or would you like it for ratings?"
While I really do appreciate the concern, I want to assure you all that I am feeling great at 7 months of pregnancy! I think every job has its own stresses, but you just have to remember to take a deep breath and move along step by step. The hardest part of it all is getting up at 2:30 in the morning... but I'm not sure that's ever an easy task. Aside from the typical morning sickness, headaches, and fatigue... I think I've had a pretty good pregnancy. So if you see me reporting out in the field, please don't worry! :)
For all of you working moms out there... I'm curious to know... what challenges did your pregnancy introduce into your work day?

Valentine's Day was extra special this year... my husband and I found out the little person growing inside me is a GIRL! We are so thrilled! Katelyn Grace Gutierrez will "grace" us with her prescence in mid-July, so yes, that means you can expect to see my belly getting bigger and bigger over the next few months.
We actually had the sonogram a few days prior, but we had the doctor write it in a card in a sealed envelope (so I wouldn't peek) and we wanted to open it together at our Valentine's dinner. When I first opened the card I was totally shocked because I was sure it was a boy... you know, I thought I had come in touch with that "mother's instinct." My husband thought it was a girl all along, but once it was confirmed... his wheels really started turning.
Here's how the conversation went (this is HILARIOUS!):
Kris: "Honey, I think you should open the card first."
Krystle: "Ok.... (open the card) Oh my gosh! It's a girl!"
Kris: "I knew it!"...... Silence.......
Krystle: "Are you okay?"
Kris: "Oh my gosh, I don't know anything about girls!..... I mean, there's so much to teach them and you're going to have to do it all because I don't know anything about little girls! .... More silence..... We're going to have to make sure she gets her ears pierced evenly!"
Why my sweet husband's first concern was getting Katelyn's ears pierced evenly we'll never know... but it sure made for a funny story! And yes dear, we will be sure to get her ears pierced correctly. :)

Hey bloggers... I need your help with a story I'm working on.
I'm looking for an "elderly"/"senior" online dater. I know they're out there because there were more than 500 profiles that popped up in the Dallas area when I checked one website. I would prefer this person to be at least 65 years old... and it would be icing on the cake if you know an older couple who met online & hit it off. I need someone with a fun personality and a sense of humor... and of course, it is for television --- so they can't be camera shy!
Please reply if you think you know the perfect person/couple for this story. I can't wait to hear your suggestions!
Thanks so much!

It's that time again... you know... where we get all motivated to make some big change in our lives with the coming of the New Year. I guess a lot of us feel like we have a clean slate and a fresh start on January 1st.... Maybe this will be the year we can finally (________fill in the blank________) It may even be the same resolution we made last January that we only stuck with for a few weeks. (months if you were really motivated)
I'm not much for resolutions... but I do believe in becoming a better person as each year rolls around. You live a little, and learn a lot in a year... which should impact the way we live the next.
So instead of talking about resolutions we likely won't stick with... I want to hear about your reflections on the past year and how you would like to better yourself in 2008. (Of course I mean the "Readers Digest" version... keep it short and sweet folks). But seriously, take a sec to really think.... reflection is good for the soul.
I suppose I shouldn't ask you without sharing a little of my own insight.... so if you're really interested, keep reading.
2007 marked an eventful year for me, and likely the most eventful one I'll ever have. It was all about change - but at least it was all good change! In July, I transformed from being a single gal to a wife, I moved from Corpus Christi to Dallas, started a new job at Fox 4, and got a puppy. And yes, that was all in July! Whew! Then... in November my husband and I found out we are expecting our first child!! Amazing!! He or she will be due next July... which means 2008 will be full of change as well! :)
So after reflecting a little, my "resolution" for '08 is to simply enjoy time with my husband and family before our little miracle arrives... and to prepare myself as much as possible to be a mother. It's sure to be an incredible year!
Happy New Year Everyone!!

I know I'm not the only one who can't BELIEVE what we're seeing at the pump!! I've seen some stations charging $3.10/gallon here in North Texas and I'm sure some of you have seen even higher prices. I found this great website that lists the cheapest gas in town and where it's located so you may want to check it out.

Seriously though, this is getting to be ridiculous! What are your thoughts?? Come on bloggers.... here's your chance to vent.

If you've ever found yourself asking this question, I encourage you to get involved with at least one non-profit run/walk to find your answer.
On Saturday, I put on my tennis shoes and headed to the Komen Dallas Race For A Cure at Northpark Center. It was amazing to see the thousands of people who showed up to unite in the fight against breast cancer! Some were there in loving memory of someone they lost to the disease, while others were there in celebration of survival. Whatever the reason, one thing was common in everyone's eyes - HOPE! Hope that a cure will one day be found... and hope that generations to come will never know the pain of losing a loved one to breast cancer.
I have to admit, I was a little intimidated by the 5K race because I'm not much of a runner... but once it started, I realized the truth in the saying "there is strength in numbers." Yes, there was a little huffing and puffing and a little sweat... but when I looked at the sea of people in front of me and behind me.... it was all I needed to keep going.
I was truly inspired, and my thoughts are with those who have suffered at the hands of breast cancer.
So... I think I've found my answer to the question, "Why race?" I race because that's what I CAN do. I can't find a cure and I can't stop the disease, but I CAN support those who WILL find a cure and WILL stop the disease.
Why do YOU race?

The first ever "Christmas in Cowtown: Holiday Gift Market" begins tomorrow in Fort Worth and this morning on Good Day, I put on my boots and headed out there to give viewers a little preview. But because of our limited amount of time in "TV land" I wasn't able to show off ALL the neat things about the event... so I thought I'd tell you more on the blogs. (And yes, I'm fully aware that I've lost the attention of most men at this point... :)
First of all, there are loads of GREAT holiday decor (Christmas and Halloween). The kind of stuff you always want to decorate your house with but never really know where to get it.... well you can find that kind of stuff at this event.
As for the clothes... from what I saw there was a good mix of pieces I loved, but didn't love the price... and pieces that were very... let's say.... unique. But hey, like I said... there's something for everyone!
If you're looking to get your holiday shopping done early and all under one roof... that is definitly possible! There are tons of great items already packaged very nicely that would make great gifts. You'll find a lot of unique things that you don't see in your everyday store. If you love decorative crosses... there are SO many to choose from!
Finally.... what really grabbed my attention were the adorable venues for baby stuff. There were tons of baby clothes that had really cute sayings on them... mom's you'll love these! I also loved the crib bedding I saw... very unique, not like anything I've seen before! (Hmmm... if only I had a little tot to shop for :)
So do I think it's worth the trip to Fort Worth? (for those of you who don't live there already)...................
ABSOLUTELY!!
Are any of you planning on going??

The thought of floating high into the sky has always seemed appealling to me. In fact, I've wanted to go skydiving for as long as I can remember. However, during my recent trip in the Fox 4 hot air balloon, all my adventurous dreams quickly fizzled... for a little while at least. Somewhere between zero and twenty feet off the ground... I realized how crazy it was! "Why, why, why would I agree to hop into a wicker basket and be blown where the wind takes me" is all I could think. All the "what if''s" were taking over my mind... and I was secretly terrified that my hair would somehow catch on fire because the burners were so close. (I'm 5'10 by the way and this was the one time in my life I wished I were shorter!) I was repeatedly assured that I had the best pilot in town which did ease my worries a tiny bit... but I was still shaking as we took off! (On live television none the less!)
After just a few minutes, we were hundreds of feet into the air and everyone looked like little ants crawling around. For the first half hour I was practically frozen in place because I didn't want to "rock the basket." After that first half hour though, I finally started to relax a little and realized what an amazing view we had! It's actually a very calming experience because it's so quiet and peacful up there.
All in all, it was a GREAT ride! I would absolutely do it again and I definitely reccommend it to everyone... even if you're scared like I was! As for skydiving.... I think I'll live vicariously through other people who are brave enough to do it! :)
Be sure to check out the pictures in my photo album!
