Congress tried to pass yet another communist social health plan, but our President was smart enough to veto it.

""After going alone and going nowhere, Congress should instead work with the administration on a bill that puts poor children first," the President said.

YES, put poor children first, good idea, why can't congress do that??

"Congress is not getting its work done," Bush said bluntly. "We're near the end of the year, and there really isn't much to show for it."

I don't know all the details about this communist health plan, but the doctors in this country are ripping off the health plans. Some
doctors will take the money from your health plan and then turn around and send you a big bill also, why? This nation needs a health plan.

What we need is for the health insurance companies to STOP ripping us off! We don't need Oprah's Michael Moore health plan either. Just ask Canada, Denmark and all the other socialist health care countries how well socialized medicine works...it doesn't.

Clinton/Obama's health plan will make things worse. - The governement will be in charge of health care, which means they'll be paying the doctors. Um, have you ever had to go to a COUNTY HOSPITAL? Well, socialized health care will be 10 billion times worse.

- Atleast that's the way I see it, I could be wrong. - But I doubt it. :)

If the government handles it of course it will be mishandled and corrupt. I don't know who should handle it. Hopefully some in the private sector might be able to do it. But the bottom line the country needs a health plan.
Thanks for reading

I don't understand why there needs to be a health plan at all. Truly.

Think of car insurance. There is no government-run plan at all, there is just competition. Some will go with companies that charge too much, many more will go with the lower-priced ones. It really depends on what you can afford.

And remember, that '45 million without health insurance' quote we all hear isn't the same as 45 million who WANT health insurance. Many still do the 'pay-as-you-go'.

Why can't health insurance be the same as car insurance? Why does the government have to get involved at all?

If you have a doctor who is accepting the payment for treatment he/she agreed to with the insurance company, then sending you a bill to re-coop the rest. Turn the doctor in. That is illegal. Or first bring it up with the doctor. He/she may have a person in the billing department who doesn't know what they're doing.

Car insurance and Medical insurane isn' a good comparison. If you need to have a major operation and you could only afford the doctor that just garaduated from a 4 year college that really doesn't rate in comaprison to NYU,
Standord etc., I think you better rethink your position on that comparison.

You may be correct, jamesryan. My argument is kind of weak. I just don't like the fact that the government has to get involved at all. There has to be a better way.
The car insurance example I think is only to show that there IS health insurance out there, people just have to shop around.
Of course, if you are poor and need a $25k operation and have no insurance, you are sol. That is where the comparison fails. But it's a slippery slope to get the government involved, I think. Imagine the corruption and ineptness since there will be no competition.
Look at Medicare and Medicaid and you will see my hesitation and thinking any government-run health plan would be fair and work.

I understand delusion, there has to be a better way, if illegals can get away without paying med bills, you know something can be done, but not on the taxpayers dime.

socialized medicine is NEVER THE ANSWER. Look at the mess in Great Brittan... Cuba... always wrong, all the time.
