"Obama-Biden want to change America. McCain-Palin want to change Washington." (attributed to Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform)
Barack Obama spent his teeth-cutting years in the good-old-boy Chicago Daley political machine Bidening his time to advance in the political arena. Spending a couple of years as a "community organizer" under taxpayer-funding, the results of his organizing were less than news-worthy. When his mentor-politician in the Illinois Senate indicated she would not run again, Obama jumped into the race and had a fundraiser at a well-known US terrorist's house. After gaining the graces of one of Chicago's courts (he sued his mentor over attempting to run again, saying she missed the timeline required by the political elite, or the signatures were wrong, or nobody cared), he effectively neutralized the only opposition he had, and he won the district in a landslide.
A boilerplate liberal, Obama spent his time in the Illinois State Senate voting, as opposed to writing legislation. He allowed his name to be used on legislation (placing your name on legislation not written by you is the norm for any legislature). His voting as "present" on 130 legislative bills leaves the impression that he figured the ideals at the heart of those bills were above his paygrade.
When he decided to seek the open Illinois US Senate seat, he became the luckiest candidate in that 2004 election. His opponent, a rich white guy having the unfortunate surname of Ryan (Illinois Governor at the time was named Ryan and was under investigation for corruption) eventually had to withdraw when salacious sexual details surfaced from his divorce.
In the incredibly ham-handed way of the Illinois Republican Party, they nominated perennial Republican presidential candidate Alan Keys to run as Senate Candidate. A cynical ploy to gain the black vote; as Bernie Mac was known to say: Dead man walking...Obama trounced him 70-27 percent.
In 2008, Obama bounced Hillary Clinton to the curb running for Democratic presidential nominee. How did this happen? Hillary ran on the obvious platform of "experience" against a wonderful candidate claiming "change" who actually has the worst record regarding change. If I were Hillary I would demand a recount!
So, is John McCain "change" as told by media platforms? Give me a break...the "media" have their candidate...GWB is somehow the same as John McCain.
