I just watched the Senate pass some form of bailout for Wall Street. While I am not privy to the details, I am quite certain that our future is at stake in the passing of this legislation. Where I am uncertain is how necessary this particular legislation is to the benefit of our economy. I’m guessing that this is important, but I can’t put my finger on what is bad (other than we taxpayers are on the hook).

If Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) is right, we have the possibility that this will fix the toxic lending anchor that dragged our economy down. I’m not certain we have a proper answer, but being stupid is the proper forte for Congress. Thus, we get something I cannot fathom in any way.

This leads me back to a subject some of my long-time readers might recall: How to reign in Congress! In order to change Congress, we have to call for a Constitutional Convention. Why? Because we will never change Congress via Congress (we tried that in 1994 and 2006, only to get probed by aliens), the only way Congress can be changed is by Constitutional Convention.

Given the fact Congress passed into Democratic hands in 2006 and nothing changed - in fact our government accountability worsened as evidenced by this horrible bailout - I find zero reason to worry why a Constitutional Convention is any worse than another Congressional session chaired by either party.

Am I wrong? How so?

LOL Mark Mark, please, and who do you think would be in charge of that convention? Plus they would never allow it to happen. Talk about Waco all over again.

I'm all for changing our government but we can’t let millionaires and lawyers run our country, you see what can happen when we do. We need businessmen and regular citizens. Millionaires are going to pass bills that protect the rich and lawyers are going to pass bills that have 9 or 10 definitions to them so they can twist it in court.
We need good honest businessmen and not the ones who make 20 million a year. I’m talking your mom and pops business people. Then we need good honest citizens who care about this country and what is fair for all. Then we need to make a congressman term 3 years and the president’s term three years, that way we can set term limits to two terms for all of them and only have elections every 3 years instead of 2.

Believe me I don't like the government getting into the Market, but after loosing 8% from my portfolio Monday I'm convinced. Even with this Rescue Plan we may not be out of the woods. Who's elected President will have a noticeable impact, It's not a good time to have a Social Engineer as President. If the Market Fails even the Minimum wage people will be in the Soup Line.

Obviously they don't care what we think, or they don't think we are smart enough to self govern. I would think Americans would be so furious that the government either caused this or were complicit in it, they would throw all of them out. But they won't, so we get what we deserve I guess. I heard one senator say they passed 20M in pork just last week. Our hard earned taxes are their slush fund. When people start to understand our "leaders" are not leaders and don't CARE about us, maybe they will act, but apathy is a comfort zone most wrap themselves in.

Is anybody taking a poll on congressional approval this week?

I know CNN is not because they are busy putting the screws to Palin.

I'd love to see just how low it sunk last nightg.

Can it get lower than the 9% they were at, Lee?

I wrote Kenny Marchant this morning. Let me know when you're having your constitution party, Marks. I'll come and bring my husband as security and my conlaw books from college.

Latest poll on the web is 9/27.
Approval 15%
Disapproval 72%
Not sure 13%
Overall -57 approval rate

I wonder about the 13 that are not sure.

It's past convention time; it's time for pitchforks and shotguns.

That would be more entertaining, scotty, if you picture John Kerry as the monster in the castle.

Those who aren't calling to oppose this mess, will have no right to oppose the effects it will have on you finances in the near future. If you not throwing a fit about this now, don't complain when it hits your bank account or your pocket.

I say let's go do a 300 million (less those in congress already) march to the Capitol Hill. Let's create a revolution like we did way back when. This country needs to be stirred up....something needs to change. And handing money out to those that screwed up because of greed is not the answer. Who's with me?? LOL!
