How can I get rid of static electricity in my new carpet? I'm tired of getting the fire knocked out of me when I vacume. I dont know about that static guard stuff because I have a dog and dont know if it will hurt her.

If this is a constant problem then buy a humidifier. Static electricity is less likely to happen if the air in your house is not so dry.

I found another source that said boil water on the stove. You could try that before you fork out money for the humidifier. Just be careful and not let it boil dry. Good luck.

MrsVick an old wive's thing to do is go to a Dollar store and buy several boxes of fabric softner sheets, Then(this is the hard part)put one flat on the carpet and use a spong mop to push it over your carpet. The fabric softner sheets will get rid of the static electricity and also leave your home refreshed smelling
