Police are advising against putting boxes your expensive Christmas gifts came in out for everyone to see. Leaving those boxes out tell thieves what new treasures are in your house.

As reported by Fox, you could tear up the boxes and put them inside you trash cans/bags. Another suggestion is breakdown the boxes and take them to a dumpster you may see at a church for recycling. Many churches earn extra money from the papers/boxes placed in those dumpsters. The money raised at my church goes to the youth mission tour every summer.

You will also be helping the environment.

" Another suggestion is breakdown the boxes and take them to a dumpster you may see at a church for recycling."

I've been wondering about that possibility, NTX...and I'm glad you mentioned it. I think I'll check with a few of the local churches to see if they welcome such donations.

I have an approved source for recyclable cardboard and paper, locally, but I'd rather see the churches (or any other legitimate charity) get the benefits.

Good suggestion!

Thanks, KK.

If the church or school has one of those green and yellow dumpsters in their parking lot, they do get money from the papers/cardboard etc that is put inside. There was a big push for paper this past summer through a contest. The church would get extra money per lb during a given period. I know we get $100 - $200 per month from the paper people drop off.

That should get more publicity! This is the first I've seen or heard about it...especially from the charity standpoint.

I didn't know about it for a long time.

Just be sure to break the boxes down so more paper/boxes etc can be put inside. If the boxes are not broken down the dumpster fill up faster. Less stuff the smaller the check.

With the moving, the back injury problems, the insurance company war, a broken rib from a sneezing allergy attack, a huge kidney stone that decided it was time to move (yesterday afternoon!), I haven't had much time for any guit-fiddle practice. Maybe 2008 will be better.

I knew you were moving, but man the rest. I hope you have a better '08 as well.
