I just read two articles about what patriotism is. One by John McCain the other by Barack Obama.

McCain believes it is "Putting The Country First". Obama believes it is "Faith In One Another As Americans".

What do you as a Fox4 Blogger think it is?

Love of your country and fighting to keep it free any way you can.

It's hard to put in words, but I definitely saw it after 9/11. Everybody seemed to feel closer to their country and to their fellow Americans. People seemed to look each other in the eyes and know that we were all feeling the same thing.

Simply, it is loving and standing by one's country with pride & being grateful & humbled for the priviledge of living here - not angst, shame, outrage, or constantly proclaiming how it need improvement and making list of it's wrong.

The former IS patriotism; the later, liberalism.

I go on gut feeling, and with Obama, I smell a rat! I lost faith in several fellow Americans a long time ago.

it seems to me a lot of people only realize patriotism when the country is under attack, but when something is done, they don't agree with, even tho it is protecting them, all of a sudden they forget what is being done for them, they complain about the deaths fighting for our safety, interesting, you don't see that much outcry over all th law enforcement people that die trying to protect us here at home on the streets, maybe people would be more patriotic if we just disbanded the military, and all law enforcement , so they wouldn't put their lives in danger , oh wait, then who would their be to protect us , what a quandry, how does one ever handle this quandry , oh wait, we could just quit fighting for our freedoms, and just lay back ,and become enslved , maybe that would do it , well, at any rate, being a patriot, is having faith in our system and supporting it, and if ya can't support democracy, what can ya support !!

Patriotism by definition is loving, supporting, and defending your country. Senator McCain knows the definition. Senator Obama must first check with one of his advisors.

Loving your country and fighting for it, being a proud American. You see someone disgracing our flag you have the courage to tell that person to stop. Thats the problem we have become jellyfish we don't stand up for America, we let people cross our borders and take it away from us slowly.First our language, then our liberty, then our government....

Citizens by birth or choice, of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections. The name of AMERICAN, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations."

This IS patriotism-thank God for the liberal founding fathers of our Country.
