Ok, so we've been holding out.. everyone has called us crazy. We had become experts on fan placement to create the best breeze through the house. We made it all the way to June 5th, and broke. We turned on the A/C last night for the first time this year.

We're dreading the first bill but we couldn't take it any longer... the heat, the bugs, the annoying buzz of fans.... our sanity is now starting to return.

Anyone else still holding out??

If you are with TXU you'll get a special blessing as their rates have dropped considerably. I have not held out but we were very surprised as the electic bill was 30% lower than this time last year.

No A/C for me yet. Unit is still covered from winter. WIll probably turn on in about a month or so. House has not exceeded 83 yet this year and stays around 79-80 naturally just from opening windows at night. Breaking point is about 86 then the A/C will come on for about two months. Yes, two months of moderately high electric bills then off again for ten months.

I finally broke down and threw the switch from "off" to A/C, but I held out pretty darned good. I have it set at 78. I can stand that.

A year ago I had it on in early April!

The rain has also reduced my water bill (trying to save a newly seeded lawn a year ago) by over $100, thus far in '07. So far, so good.
