I open my mouth when people talk down about my country or my military

I teach my children to respect their elders, authority, the environment and their country, and to tell soldiers "thank you"

I am registered to vote and I will vote

I'm against killing unborn children and for killing murderers

I let people over on the road and give a thank you wave when they do the same for me

I cook good healthy meals for my family after work instead of picking up McDonald's

I turn off the television and play outside with my kids

I work and pay taxes and support myself and my family

I send carepackages   (Love You Unit 73920!)

I remember 9-11

I have a yellow ribbon on my car

I fly an American Flag at home

And I look around - and I wonder, Where are YOU?!?!?!

I read and write alot, because I think too many people don't pay attention.
I expect good behavior whether it is from my kids, my husband, my students or total strangers.
I am polite-I hold open doors, say please and thank you and say excuse me when I bump into someone.
I am thoughtful-I write thank you notes, buy flowers for my mom and send words of encouragement to my kids.
I am patriotic-I fly the flag when I can, I try to participate in USO related events when I can, I pray for the kids I know overseas and for the families of those who won't return. I calmly agree to disagree with those who would trash our nation, because when you wrestle with a pig, you get dirty and the pig likes it.
I remember-my kids when they were small, all kinds of events from the Kennedy Assassination to OKC Bombing, Waco and 9/11. That's a great deal of terror for a peaceful nation.
I hope, I try to change things and make kids aware of their potential to impact the future. I offer options, ideas and try to instill the type of "can do" attitude that is so sadly lacking in our society.
For my last supper I would love a cheeseburger, REAL fries and a chocolate shake. Until I lost 30 pounds, those are out of the question.

You all ain't doing anything exceptional... That's what normal people do. Though i doubt Ms. "C" is really a polite, reasonable person.

So what do you consider yourself Bowl? Subpar?

You know, I tend to side here with the Big Bowler.

You are living your life the best you can.

I mean, arent we all?

Your OP makes it sound as though you are making a difference some way or how.

Sorry...

As far as the comment about Chard, I dont know what to say. We all have our days.

And your point is?? So to be a good American, a good person, good citizen, good cristian, are whatever agenda your trying to push...I have to be like you. Lots of people do some of the things you do and don't expect a pat on the back. And it's been my experience that people like you, who want recognition for the righteous life they lead, tend to stick together. So I'm sure you know others that are morally superior like yourself. Now that your deeds are recognized, I hope you sleep better. Good grief, who cares.

My goodness, I did not realize I was pushing an agenda! And I CERTAINLY was not expecting a pat on the back. I'm a working wife and mother, I do millions of things without recognition - I don't ever EXPECT or ask for a pat on the back. I was simply pointing out that I am looking for my fellow citizens who have fallen out of the habit of raising the flag, for those that have removed the yellow ribbons from their cars.... I know I am not alone, I wasn't insinuating I was the only person doing these things. I also am not chastising people who eat McDonald's or for not being like me for goodness sake! I simply noticed fewer flags, fewer ribbons, less kindness to one another... I find it amazing that a post like that angers some people. And by the way, let me tell you WHO CARES... the world will care that I raised my children right, taxpayers will care that they don't work to support ME, Veterans will care when they see the flag flying, my children will care because they are healthy and intelligent, the soldiers will care when they receive socks and treats in a carepackage, a family victimized by 9-11 will care that you remember that day their world changed, my fellow Americans that take pride in being good people and good citizens will care that there are others out there like them. I care, and if you don't.. I'm not attacking you for it nor am I asking for your congratulations for anything I do or any choice I make. Why it would bother anyone is beyond me. So, sorry to those that were disturbed by my post but I stand by it - I was trying to start a thread of a positive nature,

I know you deleted my comment but I'll post it again.

The reason you didn't get the pat on the back you were looking for is because your post comes off as holier than thou. I mean, were you expecting an award for putting a sticker on your car?

I don't know if your talking to me about deleting your post or not, but I did not delete your post.

Not sure how many different ways I can say I wasn't looking for a pat on the back. Again, sorry to those that were offended, still unclear to me as to why it would make you angry. I think some folks on here just need to calm down a bit - not everyone is attacking people or judging others. I was calling for people to rally behind their country, their military and to stand up for their morals and values - It's EASY to fall into the day to day grind and get lost in the easy way out option and forget your worth to society... I was simply asking folks to stand back up and realize little things DO make a difference, it was a REMINDER, a REQUEST.. not an ATTACK or a personal glorification. Perhaps you should consider why your so quick to jump to the negative and attack.

Sometimes people take a post the wrong way.

I guess what is missing is the tone of one's voice or facial expressions, so the true meaning gets lost.

I think your post was good, and maybe we all should take a lesson and check our own behavior.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR...Lol, wow, ya'll never cease to amaze and amuse me. Other than that my only comment is, I proudly fly our flag on my front porch.

Scott, it would seem that often many folks are too busy checking others behavior to be too concerned with their own.

Don't be sorry. Good post! I think we know what you ment...maybe there are people that are out there that are ashamed of their own actions so they feel like they need to come down on you for doing what you feel is "right".

I dont think anyone is coming down on the OP.

I'll speak for myself...

I was just saying that we all are living the best lives we can; sort of agreeing with the OP.

I just am not looking for you people to give me me a cookie or a small parade in doing so.

Thanks for the idea.
