POV's Shots from the Hip

Good Evening,

Hope everyone had a good day back to the grind; well the some that actually work.

I must say, I am pretty amazed at how a few are acting in here over this Palin's daughter pregnancy thing.

I mean, all the angst is coming out of the woodwork.

You know what? It's stupid.

You have an opinion. I have an opinion. However, your opinion is not always right. It may have valid points, but so do mine.

I saw a comment earlier about learning humility around here. I thought that was one of the most powerful comments ever made around here. And, there have been a whole lot of heated debates about far more stupid stuff around here.

If we all learned that just because we think we are right that is doesn't make it fact, I feel we would all get a long a lot better when it comes to debating.

No, this is no apology post to anyone. I am far past apologizing to anyone around here because of all the Tom Foolery in here lately and I don't know who to trust anymore. Not that I should trust anyone in here, just making a point there.

This Palin situation has a lot on edge in here. Our country is on the verge of economic breakdown. All we all need to do is make our voice heard at the polls on November 4th and wish for the best.

Have a good Wednesday!

Good Morning,

From CNN.Com:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House of Representatives was poised Tuesday to pass a resolution apologizing to African-Americans for slavery and the era of Jim Crow.

The nonbinding resolution, which is expected to pass, was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen, a white lawmaker who represents a majority black district in Memphis, Tennessee.

While many states have apologized for slavery, it will be first time a branch of the federal government will apologize for slavery if the resolution passes, an aide to Cohen said.

By passing the resolution, the House would also acknowledge the "injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow," the period after slavery was abolished in which African-Americans were denied the right to vote and other civil liberties. The resolution states that "the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day."

"African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow -- long after both systems were formally abolished -- through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty, the frustration of careers and professional lives, and the long-term loss of income and opportunity," the resolution states.

The House would also commit itself to stopping "the occurrence of human rights violations in the future," if it passes the resolution.

The resolution does not address the controversial issue of reparations. Some members of the African-American community have called on lawmakers to give cash payments or other financial benefits to descendents of slaves as compensation for the suffering caused by slavery.

Am I the only person in America tired of having to apologize for being white? If anyone took one hour of college American history, they would learn that it was the Africans who sold their people to this country to begin with.

Please think clearly before commenting on this post. I am not a racist. It is 2008, it's time to move on to bigger issues in this country.

What does today bring to me?

A bicker, maybe a snicker?

A smile or a comment that is vile?

Either way, it's all good!! My life is grand, although misunderstood.

Have a good weekend...

Good Afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a good day...

First off and as much as I do not want to do this, my comments are on approval. I am not going to subject myself or anyone else to the bull BLEEP head games some are trying to play in here.

This has gone way beyond silly. Posting personal information, making threats towards other bloggers, et al should be grounds for banning any particular blogger all together.

Saying all that, this is pretty much an open post. If your nice, I'll let you be seen.

This is how I will intend to blog for now on around here when I make a post.

Don't like it? Scroll down...

Praise God!! Blessed be the name of the Lord!!

Christie Brinkley got her settlement!!

I guess the Coppell family didn't pray hard enough for their children to be saved from drowning.

Isnt life grand?!?!?

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a good evening...

Well, we got home last night and the chicken we had out seemed to have a sour smell to it. So, we decided to order pizza from this place up the street that has pretty good stuff. We got the standard (2) 14" one cheese, one pepperoni like we normally do.

Anyhow, we asked if we could have some of those pepper flakes that you sometimes may put on your pizza. I only eat cheese pizza and like that. "Sure" they said.

OK, pizza comes and we dig in to the boxes and guess what? No pepper flakes.

I'm cool with it. I am the type of person that just cuts losses like that. I dont get all pissy and want free stuff and BLEEP like others you may know.

Well, about 20 minutes later, my doorbell rings. Who is it? Yep, the pizza delivery guy. He hands me a paper bag and says he was sorry. I laughed at him and said not to worry about it but thanks anyway.

So, I close the door. I am like, "there must be a lot of pepper flakes in here because this bag is heavy".

I go to the kitchen. Open the bag.

It had about (25) PAPER PLATES in it!

Pepper Flakes...Paper Plates...

At least the driver came back...

Have a great day!!

From CNN.Com:

CENTRAL ISLIP, New York (AP) -- Christie Brinkley's Long Island divorce trial has been put on hold -- and the model says she's praying for a settlement.

Brinkley

Christie Brinkley has been embroiled in a divorce trial with husband Peter Cook.

Lawyers declined to comment on the record Wednesday.

However, Brinkley was asked while leaving the courthouse if a settlement is in the works. She pressed her palms together as in prayer and replied: "It's what I hope and pray for."

The former Sports Illustrated model was married to architect Peter Cook for a decade before his affair with a teenager vaulted their troubles into the public light in 2006.

Good for you, "uptown girl"!!

Can't wait to see the outcome of this...Maybe God will give her and her children the life they deserve!

I am rooting for her!!

Front Page on MyFoxDFW:

Coppell police said a father found his 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter at the bottom of the family's swimming pool Tuesday evening at their home in the 100 block of Trinity Court.

The father was at home with the children when he realized that the kids were not around, according to a Coppell city spokeswoman.

When he found the children in the pool, he pulled them out and started life-saving measures.

Marcus Stocco drowned. His sister, Catherine Stocco, was taken to a hospital but she has died.

The case has been forwarded to the Coppell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division.

Absolutely nothing more to say here...

Good Afternoon Folks,

I saw on another website that our friend John Hammarley has been suspended by the station.

Makes me wonder what one can do to get that type of punishment in the news business.

Sorry to hear about your plight, Hammar!! Hurry back!!

In the meantime, don't be surprised if they will fill your spot with Mr. Deal or Dud pitching flip flops or something really useful like an automatic potato peeler.

No TM, this isn't a dedication. Although I am sure just me mentioning you would make it that way, huh?

OK, maybe this is for you. But, it's also a public service announcement for everyone to consider before they go yapping out their fingers about another person's character in here or anywhere for that matter. And especially if your goal is to get sway other's opinions about that specific person.

Libel

"An untruthful statement about a person, published in writing or through broadcast media, that injures the person's reputation or standing in the community. Because libel is a tort (a civil wrong), the injured person can bring a lawsuit against the person who made the false statement. Libel is a form of defamation, as is slander (an untruthful statement that is spoken, but not published in writing or broadcast through the media)."

Would a court of law say this is a "community"? I don't know. We all congregate here and share feelings and information. People are impressionable as well and can be swayed into thinking one way or another.

No, I am not suing anyone.

o o O (how much do trailers go for these days anyway?)

I am trying to make a point.

Just be careful what you type. It could certainly come back and bite you on the BLEEP one day.

Coming in here and calling someone an idiot is one thing.

Coming in here and accusing that person of being a hateful bigot, and in the process trying to get people against him, is another.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a good evening...

Little rant here...

So, who now owns the trademark on the words "Fourth of July"?

Has anyone else noticed the GM ads on TV and radio saying "Great American Holiday" instead of "Fourth of July"?

I mean hell, it's bad enough you can't say "Super Bowl" anymore and have to call it "The Big Game".

This is crazy!!

Am I the only one who has noticed these ads?

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a good evening...

I am a bit of a numbers guy, you know from counting all my millions of dollars made selling copiers, toner and bogus service plans.

(SMILE)

Anyhow, I came across this website that has a pretty cool math trick. I did it like five times and it worked every time.

Let me know what you think...
