POV's Shots from the Hip

Good Afternoon,

As I stayed home this weekend due to the great ice storm of 2007, I got to watch some tv as well as surf the web more than normal.

Does anyone else on here find the phrase "Results Not Typical" a little disheartening?

I mean, from weight loss products to business opportunities.

If the results arent typical of what the actual product, service or whatever touts then why use or buy the product at all?

Just a rhetorical question...Look forward to your comments...

yeah i see that a lot too...ever notice that "micro" print at the bottom of some commercials???.....most of the time it appears to be multiple paragraphs....and it's only on the screen for a few seconds....it is so tiny its impossible to read (and i'm sure the ad guys realize this)....i've often wondered what the heck all of that could say....

That's just a disclaimer they use so some idiot doesn't try to sue them when the product does not make them instantly thin (or rich). Kind of like when the companies that make those fold-out window shades for cars that say "Do not use this while driving" so some moron doesn't drive with it on and have an accident, then try to sue the company.

It's purely and totally a CYA issue. Squirrel pretty much nailed it. Even Weight Watchers - probably the most famous weight loss plan in the world - has that disclaimer.
