POV's Shots from the Hip

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a great weekend...

Walk through my paradox portal with me for a moment...

We all squeal and moan about illegal immigration & how we have too many Mexicans in this country, yet we make this one of the biggest party holidays of the year around here.

It's bigger than St. Patty's day...

Anyhow, just my little "innocent observation" of the day.

PS - Happy Birthday Dad (in peace)!!

So this day is a day of party for you? In my home we wont be having such a celebration. Maybe in our state it's a huge celebration because we have a large number of hispanics.

Good Morning TM,

No, I dont party on Cinco de Mayo. I have been out though on the weekend of of prior to. The bar/club scene is all about "Cinco de Mayo". Signs, banners, the whole nine.

I didnt do anything this year. My wife and I went to Winstar Friday night. I played poker for over four hours. I was so proud of myself; well, for lasting that long anyhow.

LOL

I was just trying to wake everyone up...LOL

Morning neighbor and TM....

I just think some people want any excuse to go out and party. Just another day as far as I'm concerned.

POV...ever headed over to Chocktaw (right about an hour from us)? Did you last that long playing poker because you were winning or did you just keep throwing $$ at the table for 4 hours??

LMAO!! Neighbor, you busted me... :)

No, actually, I did rather well. I was up about $200 at one point.

Had a really bad beat though which made me lose my gain.

Couldnt recover after that...Just kept throwing money in.

All in all, it was fun...

IMO that celebration has no place in this country. I don't see them celebrating our independence from England in Mexico.
They want to celebrate their independence from France do it in Mexico or France.

using the logic of IntolerantAmerican , the jews need to celebrate Hannukkah somewhere else , it has no place in this country

I agree with oldrocker.

It's just another weekend of making money for the business and another excuse to party.

I don't really think anyone out there is actually celebrating the meaning of the "holiday".

Not even the mexicans. To them, it's just another way of gathering in a big crowd with bands and lots and lots of drinking and eating.

Cinco Deo Suxo day.... nah, just another reason for gun shoot'n and booz'n.

I don't give a flip that mexico defeated France in some war. The one to be celebrated is Texas being liberated from mexico!! and eventually become a vital part of the U.S.!!

p.s. honestly, I was pull for the French. :))

YA'LL MISSIN THE POINT

They didnt just defeat "France" they defeated the "whites"

They dont say it that way because Mexicans are decent people ( as a culture)and they are not looking for everything to be racist.

But that is the bottomline, is that it was the core of Euro-centrism, the French.

You aren't partying in the right place if you think Cinco De Mayo is bigger than St. Patty's...try going to Greenville or the Irish Festival in March. Both events are some of the biggest in the country.

Cinco De Mayo belongs down in Mexico. No way has it anything to do with United States. That is a holiday cause they won their freedom from the French rule of Mexico. Irish Festival is much too large to compare to Cinco De Mayo. There are more Irish in this country than there Mexs. We are 15 to your 2. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
