POV's Shots from the Hip

Good Morning,

Hope everyone is surviving their hangovers from partying last night after AI.

HAHA!!

I am bothered by something and didn't know what everyone else thought. Am I the only one that thinks that we here in America "forget" the past when it comes to people in the public eye and yet we celebrate them for some odd reason?

Take George Michael for instance. This guy was busted for trolling in public bathrooms trying to get men to have sex with him. He was also busted for masturbating in public. Yet, American Idol makes him the feature attraction on last night's show.

Then, you have Robert Downey Jr whose run ins with the law and drugs has been very publicized. Yet, he is "rewarded" with this huge block buster movie and seen on AI last night as well making a retard out of himself.

I can go on and on...I just watched AI last night and these two came to mind.

What do you all think? If that was you or I with these acts against us, we would be on the street, yet these guys are making millions and millions.

*puts on Char disguise*

Hollywood is a liberal institution, so transgressions like those are easily forgiven. And Hollywood dictates what mainstream society finds acceptable, didn't you know?

I can forgive George for the public masturbation, but not for those sunshades he had on last night.

Robert Downy went to rehab and prison too. He has worked hard for his sobriety. He was un insurable for a while and paid his own insuranse on his first films. He is a brilliant actor. Michaels Ehhh.As far as I know he has made no effort to clean up his act, He just dusts himself off and keeps going. Great voice though

George was always like that, even when he first made it big. As for Downy, some things just won't stop haunting him. Pro football and baseball players sometimes are forgiven pretty fast by the general public also. Lord knows they can really get into trouble.

I don't care for either one of them. Having said that, I do believe we need to have some type of redemption in place for those who've run afoul of the law, as long as it is not grievious in nature.

With regard to AI, even though I worked that show, I cannot handle it past the first few weeks. I go into my office and shut the door while my wife watches it. Of course, I have to hear about it later.

POV, you know that homosexuality is mainstream now so why would anyone hold a grudge against GM?

Scotty, masturbating in public and having sex in a public restroom is illegal.

LOL @ sal... not bad!

But, I AM SURPRISED they had Georgie the Master Debater on AI! omg, what a joke! Not so much that he's the Debater he is, but who cares?! He's sooo beyond last decade!

But sal, errr, I was correct, Hollyweird doesn't give a flip. They love all the 'bad boy sinners' and love to shove it in everyone else's face. I'm glad I didn't watch the show. Didn't miss a thing. LOL

p.s. Pov, you do know the "teflon" was what caught my eye, right? LOL!!!

I know, Sal. All I am saying is that despite my dislike for these two wingnuts, there still should exist a means whereby people are eventually REALLY forgiven IF they show remorse and a life change. I don't know that these two have as I don't follow them.

No "jab" there young lady. I just thought it was fitting.

O! I know it was no jab... just thought it funny it got my attention. heheheh

Yes, forgiven, scotty, but maybe shamed into shutting up and staying out of the lime light. Hollywood never sees shame thought, unless it's some minister they disapprove of, which would be all of them? LOL

That is my whole point...

I mean, AI was promoting this "major star performance" last night all week.

I think it's disgusting how we give these people all these chances and compound their rewards.

Good morning to you, POV.

I'm glad you like my Char impersonation, Char. :)

Scotty, I understand what you're saying, but in the liberal society that exists in Hollywood, there seems to be no end to their forgiveness. I think Downey is pretty much cleaned up, but who knows? He's hot, so I'm willing to forgive him.

But you mentioned homosexuality, as if that was the reason POV brought him up. That's why I made my comment that it was the illegal activity, not the homosexuality.

Who knew you were so hardcore about these sort of things, POV? As long as all they hurt are themselves, I don't care what they do.

AI shouldn't be a beacon of wholesomeness anyway.

Shouldn't be CONSIDERED a beacon of wholesomeness, rather.
