Good Evening,

Hope everyone had a good day back to the grind; well the some that actually work.

I must say, I am pretty amazed at how a few are acting in here over this Palin's daughter pregnancy thing.

I mean, all the angst is coming out of the woodwork.

You know what? It's stupid.

You have an opinion. I have an opinion. However, your opinion is not always right. It may have valid points, but so do mine.

I saw a comment earlier about learning humility around here. I thought that was one of the most powerful comments ever made around here. And, there have been a whole lot of heated debates about far more stupid stuff around here.

If we all learned that just because we think we are right that is doesn't make it fact, I feel we would all get a long a lot better when it comes to debating.

No, this is no apology post to anyone. I am far past apologizing to anyone around here because of all the Tom Foolery in here lately and I don't know who to trust anymore. Not that I should trust anyone in here, just making a point there.

This Palin situation has a lot on edge in here. Our country is on the verge of economic breakdown. All we all need to do is make our voice heard at the polls on November 4th and wish for the best.

Have a good Wednesday!

Good Morning,

From CNN.Com:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House of Representatives was poised Tuesday to pass a resolution apologizing to African-Americans for slavery and the era of Jim Crow.

The nonbinding resolution, which is expected to pass, was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen, a white lawmaker who represents a majority black district in Memphis, Tennessee.

While many states have apologized for slavery, it will be first time a branch of the federal government will apologize for slavery if the resolution passes, an aide to Cohen said.

By passing the resolution, the House would also acknowledge the "injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow," the period after slavery was abolished in which African-Americans were denied the right to vote and other civil liberties. The resolution states that "the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day."

"African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow -- long after both systems were formally abolished -- through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty, the frustration of careers and professional lives, and the long-term loss of income and opportunity," the resolution states.

The House would also commit itself to stopping "the occurrence of human rights violations in the future," if it passes the resolution.

The resolution does not address the controversial issue of reparations. Some members of the African-American community have called on lawmakers to give cash payments or other financial benefits to descendents of slaves as compensation for the suffering caused by slavery.

Am I the only person in America tired of having to apologize for being white? If anyone took one hour of college American history, they would learn that it was the Africans who sold their people to this country to begin with.

Please think clearly before commenting on this post. I am not a racist. It is 2008, it's time to move on to bigger issues in this country.

Praise God!! Blessed be the name of the Lord!!

Christie Brinkley got her settlement!!

I guess the Coppell family didn't pray hard enough for their children to be saved from drowning.

Isnt life grand?!?!?

Good Afternoon Folks,

I saw on another website that our friend John Hammarley has been suspended by the station.

Makes me wonder what one can do to get that type of punishment in the news business.

Sorry to hear about your plight, Hammar!! Hurry back!!

In the meantime, don't be surprised if they will fill your spot with Mr. Deal or Dud pitching flip flops or something really useful like an automatic potato peeler.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a good evening...

Little rant here...

So, who now owns the trademark on the words "Fourth of July"?

Has anyone else noticed the GM ads on TV and radio saying "Great American Holiday" instead of "Fourth of July"?

I mean hell, it's bad enough you can't say "Super Bowl" anymore and have to call it "The Big Game".

This is crazy!!

Am I the only one who has noticed these ads?

-POV

This...

From DMN.Com

"Two teens accused in the fatal shootings of a Garland recording studio owner and his employee bragged about "hitting a lick" and stealing one of the victim's car, according to court records made public Friday"

Bragged? Bragged?

Oh, and not to friends or fellow gang-bangers, but THEIR AUNT!!!

Yea, that thug life is great, isn't it?

Good Morning,

Hope everyone is ready for the weekend...

I must say, I was SHOCKED to hear they arrested a woman in connection to beating that poor old lady in Terrell.

I did not think for one minute that a woman would be the suspect the way it was reported over and over.

What about you?

-POV

Good Afternoon,

Hope everyone had a good weekend...

Yes, another post...But hey, it's from your pal POV...

HAHA!!

It's obvious to say that immigration is a hot topic around here as of late. But, I am seeing a whole lot of the conversations turning into heated racial debates.

Folks, immigration (legal or illegal) and race are two entirely different conversations.

I am not trying to insult anyone's intelligence here but c'mon.

It's OK to want people to come here and do it legally.

It's OK to not want people to come here and do it illegally.

So, where does race fit into this equation?

A majority of the immigration in this country comes from Mexico. Most are doing it the right way and some not. I will give you all that.

However, this anti-immigration sentiment combined with racial biasness is ludicrous.

It's 2008 already...It's just old & stale...

-POV

Good Afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a great day...

Just got back from Waco and was listening to a talk radio show there. Apparently there is a woman who worked as an official for NASCAR for almost two years that was fired back in late 2007.

Now, the meat of this story is that she is African American and is making all these horrific claims against her old peers and superiors. Things like being called a "nappy-head" and "queen sheba". Other things like sexual advances, people exposing themselves and such.

This stuff I heard sounded pretty bad...But, my questions are...

Why did you "put up" with it for so long? Why not resign and get the attorney? Why wait several months AFTER you get terminated (she is still unemployed) and come out with these allegations.

I am not trying to incite any  racial tension on this great site of ours, but I smell a bunch of BLEEP here. Black, white or purple, people don't just take this type of stuff.

And as high profile as NASCAR is in this country, you get my point...

I hope I am wrong...

-POV

Good Morning,

I hope all of you had a great holiday weekend. I sure did!

Anyhow, I had some family (in-laws) come in from out of town this past weekend.

My sis in law works for a major large university in another state. She was telling us that a professor there just received a grant for $100,000 to start a class on how to use the Nintendo Wii.

Yes, that is one hundred thousand dollars; one tenth of a million.

I thought that was ridiculous and made it very clear to her as well. She told me that if you have a PhD you would be amazed how easy it would be to get a grant for just about anything you wanted to study.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share that with you all.

-POV

Good Morning,

Did anyone see the news story last night about all the people lining up to receive a free gas card yesterday?

Some of these people camped overnight to get this card. Even one person got arrested for disorderly conduct; go figure!

What an attention harlot this whole oil & gas situation has become. I'll leave it at that.

Face it folks, $3.75+ a gallon is here to stay.

It's time to spin the topic wheel!!!

-POV

Good Morning,

Hope everyone is surviving their hangovers from partying last night after AI.

HAHA!!

I am bothered by something and didn't know what everyone else thought. Am I the only one that thinks that we here in America "forget" the past when it comes to people in the public eye and yet we celebrate them for some odd reason?

Take George Michael for instance. This guy was busted for trolling in public bathrooms trying to get men to have sex with him. He was also busted for masturbating in public. Yet, American Idol makes him the feature attraction on last night's show.

Then, you have Robert Downey Jr whose run ins with the law and drugs has been very publicized. Yet, he is "rewarded" with this huge block buster movie and seen on AI last night as well making a retard out of himself.

I can go on and on...I just watched AI last night and these two came to mind.

What do you all think? If that was you or I with these acts against us, we would be on the street, yet these guys are making millions and millions.

-POV

Good Morning,

As I sit here rummaging through the plethora of bible posts, I feel I need to interject with this.

A Dallas man who has AIDS was being arrested for public intox. Yes, he resisted a little and assaulted the arresting officer.

That in itself would bring about 2-5 years. But, this man spit on the officer. And, because he has AIDS, he got 35 years.

Now, I dont want to spat on by anyone, especially with AIDS, but does anyone else feel the sentence is a bit extreme?

Quote from the officer from DMN.Com:

"I know it sounds cliché, but this is why you lock someone up, so our streets are safer," Officer Waller said. "Without him out there, our streets are a safer place."

Please...Gimmie a break!!!

-POV

Geezus, Mary and Joseph...

One would think that we are all getting rich off this "rebate"...

All I hear lately on here and at work is "have you gotten your money? have you? huh, huh?"

It is coming!!! Chill out!!

You sound like 5 year olds on Christmas Eve wondering when Santa Jesus is coming!!

Out!!

-POV

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a great weekend...

Walk through my paradox portal with me for a moment...

We all squeal and moan about illegal immigration & how we have too many Mexicans in this country, yet we make this one of the biggest party holidays of the year around here.

It's bigger than St. Patty's day...

Anyhow, just my little "innocent observation" of the day.

-POV

PS - Happy Birthday Dad (in peace)!!
