Now I cannot swear that it is Racetrack gas, but the last time I filled up was at Racetrack on Greenville ave near Park Lane, and before that the one on Forest lane.

My truck go to running really bad, the check engine light came on indicating repeated misfires and excessive fuel in the exhaust.

You guessed it, not just water, but sandy grit in the fuel tank. No I have a locking gas cap so it could not be that someone put it in there, it had to get in with the gas.

I have some pics which I will upload to show you what was clogging the fuel filter.

The last place you fueled up at is where you received the free parting gifts.

They are allowed so much water mixed with gas due to seepage, but when the mixture is also sand, grit and a lot of water they are responsible. Hope you got a receipt.

I always save the receipt; just a matter of digging it out of my file.

I have taken to draining off / back flushing the filter each morning and will continue to do until I get totally clean gas . Only about a cup each time but what a waste.
When it comes clean I'll replace the filter to take care of microfines which are probably restricting the flow.

This is actually the second time I have encountered bad gas in the last year . The previous time was the Murphys at Central and Midpark (Walmart) . At least now I know what the symptoms are and what to do (Drain off some gas after letting things sit, flush the filter, clean the plugs which got fouled, add some berrymans chemtool or marvel mystery oil to the remaining gas).

If I had had to have it towed and have a mechanic do it all then I would probably want to get a lawyer and get compensation.

Gonna have to start paying more attention.

Never get gas when you see the tanker truck there. IF there is water and sediment in the tank filling it will stir it up.
Never get gas when you see one or more of the pumps with bags on them for out of order. This generally means the tanks are low and you risk getting the dregs at the bottom.

Probably shouldn't fill up when it is raining either, those fume recovery systems probably suck up a bunch of water and dump it into your tank.
